After making, loving music and playing the violin for my entire life as a hobby (lucky enough to have been published quite often), it's funny for me to announce as a woman that this particular song incredibly inspires me. Although it's Hip Hop, I can understand being a Half Native Breed and not totally being able to identify with three different ethnic backgrounds that have made me who I am. I get the very easy listening lyrics being spoken and they're IMO, phenomenal! They're strong words indeed and come from the artist "Yelawolf's" heart. I don't care much for the video that seems to be filled with violence however but hey, maybe it came with the territory for him at that time in his life. Thanks to Slim Shady AKA "Eminem" for finding and putting this brother on.

Until now, I finally found the one song that says a lot, but not all about me. What's your theme...what's your inspirational piece.

Here's my first:

This song sums it up for me.

Well hello there fellow "mixed breed" nice to see another face!
Music has always been a passion of mine. Out of high school I had a scholarship to Berkley for vocal performance. Buuut life and my own issues got in the way of that and now I own an automotive business. (Whaaat?)
So I've remained somewhat of a closeted music fanatic, as nobody in my life anymore is as into music as I am.
Though I'm really picky, I do have many favorites.

But this song... is the only song to move me like no other has so far.

Or this song, I'm not a M. J. fan, but if you listen to this song in a meditative state of mind (well it's just good on the soul).

"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!" (Matt 6:22-23).

Yup, I know it's old and lacking in technology, Dolby was just beginning to snake it's way into consumer markets around this time, but played on a giant Magnavox console was spectacular. My parents played it often and a few years later, it started me on a formal classical symphony path through fifteen years of school and beyond but I played flute, not guitar.

Memories of Vietnam? My father was a Green Beret or should I say an "advisor" in Vietnam 1960-1963.

I don't know what they're saying in that song, but I can feel it. Great song choice

If I'm wrong about Vietnam, please forgive me.

Oh my, there are so many! I pulled a wildcard. Ironically, I get inspired by certain songs that are negative. Almost like they are sympathetic to whatever mess I'm in and it helps me feel like I'm not alone in the fight.

I'm sorry, what are you trying to tell me? I mean, I understand religion through and through. But... I thought this was a thread about expression, that is what music is afterall.

Yes .. remembering vietnam.. old friends .. and troops that lead .. did four tours there with s.o.g back in the 60's .. started in 63 .. your dad mustve been with 5th group then they were advising there .. its good your dad made it back safe ..

Music touches the soul .. often says / expresses things words cant .. music also humanities greatest creation .. I envy those with musical talent as lack the talent ..

will drop in thread later .. getting late here and been couple days since slept .. so off to grab a cat nap .. and to give the other club patrons a reprieve from my drunken singing ..

It's hip hop, but has a good verse about 'nam. R.A. The Rugged Man's dad was in nam and the second verse is from his fathers perspective, to my knowledge it is a true account.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I was referring to the lyrics of your song ("Searching your eyes for a hint or a trace of humility, Searching your eyes for the saint is an act of futility, Searching your eyes for a hint or a trace of it")

The quote that I posted replying to your post can be shortened down to this, "the eyes are the window to the soul".
I also look at peoples eyes to find humanity, especially the people that I love that have hurt me, and the ones I don't want to give up on.

Anyway good song.
