Dogs and cats were not domesticated into being companions of mankind... they hung around because they were able to scavenge food in contact with humans.

This was allowed by people because dogs were found to be useful in hunts and ridding communities of the resulting offal and cats kept the vermin out of the storage areas.

Initially, they were not pets at all. Instead, we appreciated their beneficial behaviours. Just because we no longer need dogs for hunting as much is no reason to stop the co-habitation. And cats, well... I recall the last time cats were hated, we suffered the Black Plague.

I agree that it would be a nice addition to ATS. I said that before in the old thread (a change in my original stance is in that thread) that it's a good idea and something I support. And I agree that there should be a voice pushing for it.

However, I disagree with the passive-aggressive, demanding (this is a free website, after all), and entitled tone of that voice.

It would fit perfectly into the desired Pet Forum should it ever come to be.

It's known by more than a few members that I've long been a proponent. In the end, it's up to the owners and administrators and they are aware of the continuing requests over the past few years.

Hayyy Jude!

OK. I have the 3 dogs.
2 rescues
1 pure breed with papers.

Mylo..( My Little One abbreviated ) he's an amalgaMUTT of love.. he's part Pitt bull, Boston terrier and part god bless him.

Then Kipper.. a white Sheppard. Not smart. But also full of love and ENERGY!!!!

Then Murphy .. UM! He's a Weimaraner ... he one years old as of the 28th of December. All legs and ears. Playful..
Knows how to open the doors and all the drawers. Came home to him eating peanut
butter .. he opened it. Smart and crafty...OH! Did I mention he's 109 lbs!!!

Well there you have it.. I live alone on 2.5 acres of land..
Three dogs.. I'm the opposite of CAT LADY.

We have three dogs. Plus 120 chinchillas. We found a home for the one foster dog. And we downsized the business a bit and are light from the holiday sales.

Edit to add: When compared to the numbers I mentioned in the old thread or in one of the other [PETS] threads.

In my township. The ordinance is 2 dogs only.
I got the Weimaraner and training him as a service dog. So the 3'd is permitted.
Had 2 other Weimaraners . And they were great.

It "IS" a worthy topic to many of the members here.

It would be a very popular forum IMO.

Who knows, maybe the forum would even attract advertisers for pets.
