I've listened to the tapes that were kept VERY meticulously by the FBI.

Now, for one thing, the FBI doesn't keep records on normal people. It keeps them on revolutionaries, threats to the status quo.

I was curious about this man, this preacher who has been claimed to be the devil himself, a mass murderer.

The tapes were inspiring. Uplifting. Equalizing.

If anyone wants an example of what he said, what he told the truth on, here's a tape that changed my view on him.

www-rohan.sdsu.edu...

It's from the alternative considerations on the Jonestown situation. And this is about things very relevant today. Corruption in religion, corruption in the government, sinister organizations designed to divide us, and it makes sense. It rings true.

Maybe I'm a kool-aid drinker. Maybe I'm not.

But it's common knowledge that J. Edgar Hoover sent letters to Martin King, one of the greatest liberators of our American land and country, telling a hero to commit suicide, because he was a COMMUNIST. A commie! Watch out for them Commies, folks!

Jones was a communist. That's a fact. His Philadelphia organization was based on principles of sharing, equality.

His Guyana organization was designed to get away from the fascist politics and Kent State-Richard Nixon-Corporate-Fascistic government that won out the battle. Jones is gone, but his message was not of evil.

If, and IF he killed himself, it was a Masada situation, where it was necessary. The Government set up Leo Ryan.

Leo Ryan was investigating the CIA, and then a little while later, a few members of a shill far-right organization sent a little letter to his desk calling Jones a madman, and Jonestown a fraud.

Ryan was a good man so he investigated.

He investigated, and was shot by one of the few survivors of Jonestown, a man named Larry Layton. Layton was the son of a man named Doc Laurence Layton, head of a biological and chemical research program. So they spared him. He was a plant. He served time in a cushy prison.

Coincidentally, another of ol' CIA army Papa Doc Layton's judas children survived as well. Deborah Layton. Heck, she even wrote a book on it, made a ton of money. Made all sorts of claims.

Liar. Liar, liar, liar.

This reeks to high heaven. Listen to the tapes, and you'll realize this isn't an evil man, but one who really truly cared.

You can listen to him for yourself, and you'll see. The gestap-... I mean FBI.. kept meticulous records as all KGB, FBI, CIA, and all other types of those sorts of organizations kept.

jonestown.sdsu.edu...

Don't listen to the death tape, it's not something that I can say to truly be authentic. Some folks believe they faked the moon landing? Well, a voice recording is much easier.

They were murdered, but not by Jones. He was a man who truly knew the climate of the U.S.A.

If he had been left alone, Jonestown would be a paradise by now.

Jones was NRO doing a group behaviour anaysis.
A Govt official was attemting to discover the op and it was turned over to CIA for mop up.
NRO didn't have the assets. Jones went off the reservation anyway so he was expendable as well as his subjects.
I was told this by one of the NRO "Trail Watchers" from Vietnam.

Covert source. don't have proof of any kind.

I had an extended relationship with a "cult" back then at the same time as Jonestown. Not Jonestown. It came as no surprise to me that a man such as Jones could say a whole bunch of things that sounded good to many and really really good to some while at the same time being a black hearted egotist capable of the things that are said about Jonestown. Nor do I doubt the ability of blind faith followers to have voluntarily taken their own lives.

That said, your post is very possible also, knowing now the deviousness of American security organizations. I hope you can get some good discussion going here Grifter.

Proof... What's proof, anyways? Just a man's word against another.

There's hours of Jones' proof of his beliefs. He spoke the truth, not the lies of the establishment. You can CALL him a spook, but he was a man dedicated to the struggle for freedom. White, black, to him it wasn't a chess board.

Not saying he's innocent but there's is a suggestion he's an MK ULTRA victim.

That's...not even remotely what the NRO do. The National Reconnaissance Office do satellites and SIGINT, not behavior studies, unless you mean a different NRO.

I am absolutely disgusted by this thread. Jim Jones was a lunatic, egomaniac, sociopath.

Jonestown WAS a paradise, right up to the second Jim Jones arrived.

Yes, he did do some good things through his church, so did Jimmy Swaggert, Pat Robertson, and every pedophile priest. Yes, he talked a good game.
He also had sex with nearly every member of his church (men and women).

You say "don't listen to the death tapes", I say BS, listen VERY closely to the death tapes because that's when the REAL Jim Jones comes out. Listen to him tell mothers to kill their own children and for what? To gratify his ego as his house of cards tumbles around him.

The senator was there because Jones wouldn't let anyone leave and Jim Jones made sure nobody could, except a handful who were off playing basketball, including his son.

What about the survivors of the tragedy and even the mans on sons who survived during that time frame. Their testimony and statements even to this day would controdict what the op is stating.

The FBI keeps records on a large number of "regular" people. Surely, you should know that.

People say lots of things they don't really believe. Surely, you should know that.

No. Sadly, I believe Jones was what they say he was. I've seen and heard enough from his type to know it's not unbelievable at all.

I'm glad you had the courage to post about something that goes against the commonly accepted narrative. That takes guts. It's too easy to fall into line with the network news, marching to the official narratives which were programmed into us by the network television news... I think it is refreshing to look at Jonestown again - simply because the media has implanted so many myths about it - we have to take long step backward and put all these events into a rational, coherent perspective.

I think that readers of this thread would also be interested in hearing Mae Brussell who recorded her 3-part analysis in December of 1978 only a few weeks after the massacre on November 18, 1978.

Jonestown is a red flag because of Mark Lane, who was impressed by the quality of health care at Jonestown. Mae Brussell "hated his guts and tried to expose him for years". What can we really believe about Jonestown .... We should be aware of personal adversarial relationships in the conspiracy world. But we should also consider those adversarial relationships as a vital refreshment available to us on the long journey to understanding conspiracy history.

There's no humor to this subject.

Now the obligatory not-funny joke has been made, moving on.

saying he was framed seems to be an attempt to absolve him.

perhaps he didn't know how his story ended...but that's a cautionary tale for people to know how their own story ends...but it doesn't absolve him.

i know how my story ends...and no one else will pen it...i'd suggest the same for anyone i come into contact with.

One man, no matter how charismatic, couldn't force 900 people to do this.

A cadre of elite CIA mercenaries and killers, MKULTRA spooks, well, they certainly could. And in my opinion, did.

It might err a bit a close to what Jones claimed was persecuting him, but in those days, they did persecute people. A lot.

So, Jones very well might have had his claims come shockingly true.
