Pheonix is closer than me, I'm back down south, but we did spend a few hours moving horses and livestock from the areas affected, it's really bad, like heading into suburbia bad. The problem is high winds that keep shifting direction, so the firies have no idea where it's gonna go next. I have friends in the area that are preparing to evacuate, so if it goes bad, I may get some unexpected company later. Hoping not to, but if it happens the doors are open.

There was just a report of a boarding kennel north of the city that had the fire sweep through, wiping out all but about 40 of the dogs there, so horrible stuff happening right now.

All they can do is keep fighting it for now, but it doesn't look good.

1.2mm of rain was had. Not enough to do any good. The wind changed and Gawler is covered in smoke.

Water bombers still going over every few minutes. They have 14 in use.

Now the wind has changed, this damn blaze could go anywhere.

But no, as yet, it is not another Ash Wednesday, that one was truly horrific.

Last count we have lost 4 houses to this one and 10,000 hectares. That is 25,000 acres.

Sadly, the wind change did not put it back on itself.

No human lives lost. But sadly, one of our larger fauna reserves is gone together with most of the marsupials.

Oh my, fire is so scary. You all pay such a high price to live in your wonderful country. All that hardship makes you kind, as the whole world saw recently.

Man that sucks. Not a good way to start 2015 really. I was hoping it would rain properly, the radar showed a decent band, but obviously not enough to have an impact. Last heard the front was nearly 40kms wide.

And now reported some dip# was burning rubbish that was the cause of it. Some people....

At present I am not near it, I could see the fire last night but it moved away.

One of my sons is in the CFS (Fire Brigade) so he has been out in the thick of it. Saw his first ever fire tornado yesterday. He was amazed and awed by it. He also decided it was bloody dangerous.

He has today off to recover and then will be back at the front tomorrow.

Praying for some decent rain.

Yeah I just read that....stay save everybody!!

I'll be in Munchen next week so I'll have a chance to check out the snow! Here in NRW there isn't much snow, just rain.
