I had never met my son,
Till several weeks ago,
The meeting created feeling,
That you had to be there to know,
It could be seen on the face,
But to KNOW one must be within,
When that wonderful storm,
Upon the mind rolls in,

Well it soon came to pass,
That Christmas time had come,
At last!
And with it came the time of gifts,
Of beaming smiles,
And eyes holding glints,
And so to the toy store I did go,

And when my boy unwrapped,
The first gift from his Dad,
His eyes near burst and shone with glee,
And it had the same effect on me,
To see his face all aglow,
With wonder despite the lack of snow,
Because that is what Christmas time is for,
Alongside worship of Jesus,
That man from days of yore,
The son of God may well be born today,
According to our lore,
But my boy is in my life,
And I no longer care about my strife,
All I know is his smiling little face,
Of ill will,
There is no trace,

Remember this,
My dearest friends,
As the next year begins,
As the old one ends,
Carry your cheer with you,
All year long,
Let good tidings,
Carry you along,
If this good fortune,
Can come my way,
Then it can happen for you,
Come what may,
May joy and happiness,
Follow you all,
Until once again,
We hear the Yuletide call.

Hehe! Thanks bud!

Guess what my son got me for Christmas? It was a Slayer guitar pick necklace, and a set of fancy teas! I only opened them five minutes ago! He is made of magic, I swear to God!

Thank you!

I consider myself the luckiest bugger in all creation at the moment, just to know him. He is getting sooooo many hugs next time I see him!

Beautiful poem...straight from your heart!

So happy to see YOU so happy!

I have always told my children that they are living proof that dreams come true.

Now, go hug your "mini-me" and tell him it's from his Aunty Jacy!

Love & grins,
jacy

I will, at the very first available opportunity!

That's one of the things I have been trying to get used to, not having had to do with younglings much since reaching adult hood. How does one measure the grip strength of a hug, for someone so much smaller than oneself?

This is the second time today that I read this, and didn't make it through without tears streaming.

Just wonderful!

I am glad that you liked my poem BugWhisperer!

I hope that the tears were not painful ones to shed.

Beautiful, amazing expression of your feelings in that moment Tru

This is the sort of thing that serves as a reminder that the smallest, individual little moments in our lives, which can't be purchased and sometimes aren't even earned (in my case), are what make life truly, unexplainably fantastic and enriching.

Good on you
