Any suggestions on how to improve this PSA will be appreciated.

Don't ever call the police unless your life is already in danger.
They don't investigate personal property crimes anyway.

Gotta justify spending all that tax payer money somehow. Besides, who's gonna notice some guy skulking through a parking lot, in broad daylight, with black pants, black shirt, black stocking hat and carrying an empty bag? He doesn't look suspicious at all.

Yeah, my car was broken into once for a carton of cigarettes lying on the back seat. Bummer.

Filimic license to just get the idea across.

No public funds were spent making that video. The money came from a private foundation and Public Access TV.

I don't lock my doors or keep windows shut. If someone wants into my car, I don't want to deal with broken glass. Locks are just to keep you friends honest. If a thief wants in, they'll get in.

I also don't leave anything important in my car. Just some loose change and a pen.

It seems to me like this is about spreading the idea that you can't trust anyone that you don't know. That if someone is desperate enough to break into your car its not because of a life threatening disease like poverty(hence the smile on the thieves face) and that when he is taken prisoner by officers and charged with more poverty and/or a complete loss of mobile freedom it should be seen as the morally right thing to do

I happen to believe in trusting your fellow man, for fear binds darkness to the hearts of men.

I do the same almost always....what sucked was a few years back my car was unlocked, nothing valuable in it, and someone broke my driver side window out then ripped the stereo head unit out....I always got a kick out of that one as they had to have felt like a complete idiot after breaking it then realizing it was already unlocked. And the stereo had not worked in a couple years so....

Mine too! The guy who broke in to my car even dropped his wallet and the police still did nothing, lol. After that lesson, I no longer leave anything in my car, not even an empty water bottle!

Many, many years ago my grandfather told me to never call the cops. Always call the fire department, they will arrive faster, are much better trained and they won't make a mistake and shoot you.

Wise words!

Now now lets not start beating up on cops. personally believe the only reason America has the highest incarceration rate in the world is because the Police in our country take their job much more seriously and accept there may be a threat of danger to their very own lives but choose to serve enforcement of the law.
There are divisions within the PD in our community that investigate all kinds of property crimes. Patterns are analyzed and surveillance is setup when there is a spike of petty larceny in specific locales.

Most municipal police departments are setup in similar ways now. They also have a very community oriented policing in this city anyways. Those same men and women just need to balls up and turn in their dirt bag co-workers who knowingly do harm with their position. More often than not it seems they persecute honesty over loyalty.

Woah I rarely venture this far out on the boards, I seemed to ramble on. I think its a good PSA, would also like to remind most perps who get away with petty larceny are dressed like normal everyday people. Many are seen by the people around, but are behaving quite normal as they rummage through an unlocked car. Which is why nobody saw it, even though everyone saw it. Pray tell the property has a working camera facing that angle.

It may seem dumb, but I think the PSA ALWAYS reaches at least one person that would not have though otherwise. One less potential victim who has a little bit more information.
