The link takes one to The Daily Currant.

The Daily Currant is an English language online satirical newspaper that covers global politics, business, technology, entertainment, science, health and media. It is accessible from over 190 countries worldwide - now including South Sudan. Our mission is to ridicule the timid ignorance which obstructs our progress, and promote intelligence - which presses forward.

Q. Are your news stories real? A. No. Our stories are purely fictional. However they are meant to address real-world issues through satire and often refer and link to real events happening in the world

I see a big experiment with this, interesting...

Kind of a bummer if you are in prison for smuggling or dealing marijuana..

Colorado inmates appreciate the freedom to smoke pot in prison but the irony is not lost on all the felons. Former small-time pot dealer Ben Salter told High Times, “It’s a bit funny because I’m in prison for weed.

“If I was born just a few years later I would have been a successful small business owner instead of a felon.”

Yeah, Daily Currant, so it's horsecrap.

I really must realise when i've missed this place and read sources and not jump in.

Like they would ever let inmates grow it.

i feel a bit better about the UK's crappy laws now at least

Seeing as it's no longer a crime, wouldn't it be the correct thing to do to pardon the ones inside for dealing/growing/selling marijuana?

Or is it a case of, it was a crime, therefore the charge stands?

Ah, I see. I was on my phone when I read it. So it's a joke. I'll take my flag back then. I thought it was too good to be true.

Yeah, good move Colorado.

Save the anti-drug stuff for the real problem drugs in prison.

Well I'm hoping this satire becomes a reality. And I also hope they allow the guards to use it to in some capacity. Prison life is dangerous, and the guards add to that danger too in many instances.

Now you know.

Well it's more than just the inmates benefit. Prisons put their people to work. Bet they will build farms for them. I don't know if the prison can make profit though. It maybe a cheap way to get labor for your farm there. Either way, Good opportunity.a reply to: onequestion

Agreed, but it will never happen for at least a couple of reasons:

1.) Alcohol is legal, but they sure as heck aren't going to start allowing it in prisons. That readily translates to most recreational substances.

2.) Given the nature of the work and at least some of these facilities being privately owned and operated (and likely more strict with the publicly-owned/run facilities), administration is not going to allow employees to use "mind-altering" substances on the job, or likely at any point that such will show up in drug testing.

3.) I would hazard to guess that most prisons fall under the purview of the federal DOJ in some regard or another, and have no doubt federal guidelines would trump any state decisions in such cases.

*shakes fist at satire articles for their false hope and implied common sense otherwise!*

Holy # Lysergic!
You almost made me spit beer.
I'm going to look up zuzus and wamwams now. I did a little time in county. Had chichi for thanksgiving a couple of years ago. Interesting vernacular.

Eta: zuzus and wamwams are individually wrapped snack cakes or fruit pies sold at prison commisaries. Now, who is going to comb my chest hair?

I sat 90 days in county. You could get anything you want, coke, meth, pills, cell phones, hookers, coffee, tobacco...the hardest thing to score was a plant God, if you believe in such an entity, made.
This is the world we live in.

Recreational marijuana? Yeah but do they have "Dick Cheney" rectal feeding? I here its the favorite holiday tradition at DICK"S house, it's the ultimate in anal retention.:

What's up with the HOAX crap anyway? Why do a HOAX? I don't get it?
