For at least the last 48 hours, we have been engaged in a self-flagellating national conversation aimed at relitigating the debate over the morality and efficacy of the Bush-era CIA’s enhanced interrogation practices. This is an important and productive conversation to have. Everyone who is interested in prosecuting the War on Terror effectively should be concerned about whether those techniques are operationally valuable or if they are ultimately counterproductive.

Ghouls

While the decade old debate about torture is currently going on.

Take a GOOD LOOK at what is being defended.

How the hell are you suppose to fight the enemy that does this?

That does this:

Disgusting

That goes around cutting peoples heads off, and then tries to ell the BODY ?

And America is 'barbaric'.

Oh hell that dog don't hunt.

Plus torture doesn't work so why accept something which degrades your country and will breed more enemy's of the USA when it doesn't even work.
I can't believe anyone will back up this stuff.
Says alot about the person who backs up torture....

No considering it was Saudi Arabia, and it's GIP that set up ISIS.

Because Sunni terrorism comes from the House of Saud.

The civil war in Syria, whose Alawite regime Saudi Arabia's Sunny monarchy has long plotted against, and the prospect of a war with Shiite Iran over its reported drive to acquire nuclear weapons, preoccupy Riyadh while, Abdallah, Canute-like, strives to keep the democratic wave from breaking on its shores. His elevation to chief of Saudi Arabia's vast intelligence network, and the unlimited funds it controls, came only one day after the embattled Damascus regime was battered by the loss of four of President Bashar Assad's most important security chiefs in a bombing inside the heavily guarded national security headquarters. A WikiLeaks released memo from the United States Secretary of State sent in 2009 asserted that the primary source of funding of Sunni terrorist groups worldwide was Saudi Arabia.[69]

The correct term is Saudi's 'GIPda'.

It is my understanding that there was outrage regarding both of those examples. To try to diminish the torture by calling responses to it "fake outrage" and then comparing it to (emotive terms) "rusty knife beheadings" and saying there was "no outrage" regarding this is disingenuous at best and an outright manipulative lie at worst.

I don't see why we can't condemn both, after all, they fell from the same tree of despicable behaviour.

All I seen were countless liberal talking heads wailing about how we need to understand them and it is all the West's fault they are chopping heads off, and how it is not real just fake acting etc etc etc.

I would suggest reading more widely than this forum and wherever else you get your news from then, as there definitely was a mass outcry against them. I do appreciate, however, that this is your chance to turn this discussion into yet another liberal vs conservative tirade.

2 things...

Firstly, you can't defend one heinous act with another...
Or you can if you choose, but that makes you a hypocrite.

Secondly, the boy chopped in half story comes from a Christian website with Christian propaganda...
It's a blatant lie, from the same people who claimed a little Muslim girl killed by Assad's Army was a "Christian baby beheaded by IS"...
& they are one of the most deplorable sources on the Internet.

F*ck The Christian Post!!! Liars!!!

It's a heinous act...

I did state that, though it may not have been clear enough.

Not respectable or humane.

So every times someone mentions how bad ISIS is.

Does anyone else except me think "perhaps US should not have created them by supporting Syrian Rebels with 500 million cash"

(cough cough)

So IS are ghouls for trying to sell a corpse, but torturing both your enemies and those that you merely fear are your enemies with drowning and sexual abuse is not ghoulish?

Wow.

Only venal, weak minded children measure their morality by the standards of others.

I would rather have my son's remains cremated by dropping a couple MOAB's on their position.
