Quite an interesting read as you said. Looks very secure:

Their is nothing to stop most normal people that own a bit of land [farm/forest] to build something even bigger. Also if you run a militia nothing could stop you aslong as you opwn land and have permission!

Sky News were recently given unprecedented access to this underground city below Wiltshire and, although they didnt specifically mention the Computer Centre as point of entry, the news report identified Corsham as the location.

their cameras were invited to descend 120 feet below the surface into the hitherto secret underground city

Sky News were invited by the MOD to have a quick shutfi in Spring Quarry, prior to it's proposed sale.

Not exactly "infiltration" is it

hi all im new here and thought i would update you on the status of this site

a major part of spring quarry it's self is in a poor state and has been for years .

Part's of the once top secreat base is still used but are other wise known as Burlington / Tunnel quarry and many other names

parts of Spring were in the proccess of being sold a year or two ago one of witch was the media park set at the rear of the complex this apeared on the local council news letter .but this also apears to now be sat dark and dusty with no sign of life.

it was asked at the house of commons once for an update on the status of spring quarry

a reply was given that said the complex was sat empty and was surplus no staff were employed to maintian the place and any maintenace was carried out by contractors .

the site is very much still in tact but is in a very sad state and is full of the nasty grey death dust asbestos all the pipe laging and drip sheets in the roof are made of it so who ever buys the place has got to spend a lot of cash to get it up to scratch

i think the erea shown by channel 4 all lit up is one of the modern ereas still used for what i dont no

most of the place can be seen on a dvd lifting the lid on box that shows many ereas of the once great secreat

The underground areas in corsham are all used to a certain extent..

West spring is now the media park as said before..info can be found online..

main part of spring is mothballed and as far as i kno..empty..

burlington..or whatever u want to call it, so long as u dont call it tunnel quarry - diff place...is the place that has been declassified..

north of B is the begginings of tunnel quarry, which is very much still active...

there are other areas underground which i wont go into, but mainly not used for anythin..

Burlington has been declassified, there is an MOD press release here...
news.mod.uk...

I found a great web page on Burlington too here...
www.nettleden.com...

There is more to Corsham than Burlington though if you dig a little deeper.

I've been for a stroll through the UK National Archives catalogue - PROCAT - and found these newly opened files, which may shed some light on the UK Emergency Government Wartime HQ based at Corsham, Wiltshire.. It went through a variety of codenames, starting with SUBTERFUGE, then BURLINGTON, then TURNSTILE.

T 277/706 Subterfuge: Functions and organisation of the home defence map room: M.G.(P.T.)(57) 1957 Jan 01-1957 Dec 31

T 277/707 Subterfuge: Functions and organisation of the home defence map room: M.G.(P.T.)(57)meetings 1957 Jan 01-1957 Dec 31

T 277/861 Subterfuge office common services: M.G.(P.T.)1-7 1959 Jan 01-1959 Dec 31

All the documents are now open for public inspection.

If anyone lives near The National Archives at Kew, Surrey- why not pop in and have a peek...and take a digital camera (they let you do that now)...and post the results somewhere handy

At least you only got rumbled on a forum, you don't want to get caught in any of these Dark Places!

As far as I know... this was the main site of Government relocation during a nuclear war or major decapitation attack. I've got some hard copy pictures of the inside of the bunker and the murals are very surreal, troubling even.

I believe a new bunker has been built to house the Government, an even more secret one that contains up to date systems. Don't have much info on that though.

There are many photos online as it is all declassified now, there are pictures of the murals all over the place, try this website....
bathstonequarries.mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk...

You are right, there is a new bunker which has replaced "burlington", Pindar under the streets of London.

Bits of Corsham are still active underground but not for the use of central governement, more form communications use such as the Comand and Control Center and South West Command. Theses are still classified areas and probably for a very good reason.

If you take a walk around the surface of Corsham you may notice a few other odd things too over quarries which are supposidly empty. A cold day is best, then you will see the hot air rising from the "dissused" shafts.
