If the kid would have been white, this wouldn't have happened. The kid may have gone to prison, but he wouldn't be dead.

Taking the color of the person out of the equation, all other actions and circumstances being the same, any other person doing the things Michael Brown did, would have resulted in them getting shot repeatedly by a single Police officer. You could say the same of the officers skin color as well. Skin color would not have changed any outcome if all the other variables were the same.

If MB doesn't rob the party store of the cigars, if he doesn't walk in the middle of the street, if he doesn't try to take the officers gun, if he doesn't attack the officer, if he doesn't taunt the officer, if he doesn't flee, if he doesn't turn around and rush the officer, then maybe he doesn't die.

If, if, if..............

Do Black Men get disproportionately stopped and arrested, YES. Was MB just an innocent soul, NO. Sorry but to me, pinning social justice aspirations on someone who did the above things is NOT the way to effect change. Surely there are much better poster people for this cause.

Michael Brown's actions led directly to what happened, that seems to be irrelevant to many.......

All lives matter. Blacks are humans too, along with whites. About time people grow up and say shut up to the one-sided hypocrites. We're all oppressed, we're all enslaved. This country is pathetic. Racism is still alive and well, and everytime I hear it, it is not a white person.

Deny ignorance completely, call out and humiliate the racists of every color.

I was told today I had a poisoned mind and should go back to watching Fox News and drooling at pretty women. All because I wanted to know when liberals are going to stop telling blacks that they are to dumb to compete with whites and therefore need help to succeed. Apparently expecting somebody to be treated as an equal makes me a racist.
You want to end racism in this country? Then make everyone equal. No special treatment for anyone.

Dear Angry White People, The Ferguson Protest Was Not About You

Some of you decided to rage and whine on the Black Lives Matter protest Facebook group about how this was segregation, and how your life matters too, and how we should screw ourselves if we don't want to include you. Well said, angry white people. But in case you haven't realized, everything in the world is already about you.
...
Towards the end of the protest, you were asked nicely to move. A small act of kindness to let your fellow black protesters get a glance at the center (where many of couldn't see due to the large turnout). Some of us needed to see that center after such an emotionally charged day. After all, you had been standing there for 1 out of the 1.5 hour protest. I sincerely thank those who moved. Where I was located, as well as a few other spots, barely any white people budged. If you're having trouble with that, you either disliked having a black person tell you what to do, or you are so full of your white privilege that you didn't feel you needed to move. After all, you got there first, right?

My feeling is, Ferguson is their fight. I am an ally and I support them. But they have to rise up and make this happen. No one else can do it for them.

Police brutality in general is my fight. But in the cases of police targeting blacks, I don't have a dog in that race. I will cheer for them, but if they would prefer I step back, I'm going to step back. Not because they don't like white people, but because they are fighting for their lives and I respect them for that.

This is not about me. Or any white person.

And if you don't step back fast enough, prepare yourself for a claw hammer or worse.
All this division makes the white people who want to sympathize into lambs for the slaughter, the white sympathizers will be the first ones massacred if one of these things turns real violent.

I'm constantly reassured that people have zero reading comprehension, or do they even click links?

The first link discusses an organized event in which white SUPPORTERS were asked to not participate in the die-in but to stand in solidarity. White people were not told not to attend and not to support.

The second link is about some random white chick that suggested to white participants to not do the "hands up, don't shoot" gesture.

Do you guys not see the word participants? Does it mean something different to you?

Racism will never go away ever, it's embedded in our DNA! Tolerance is all we have to combat racism, some people have more than others.

Lets be intellectually honest here, different races have different abilities on average populace... Some are smarter, some are stronger, some are taller/shorter, etc..

Sorry this is fact, if you can't handle it than I feel sorry for your soft egos, I accept my shortcomings and celebrate my strengths. People need to recognize that themselves, unless you fit into the less intelligent category...

In the state of Hawaii racism is the worst I have ever encountered.
At the top of the status (not wealth but status) are Native Hawaiians with more than 1/4 royal blood
Next tier is Native Hawaiians (at least 1/4 blood)

Third in status are all fair skinned Asians

Fourth in status are dark skinned Asians and black people.

On the bottom of status are white people

One is expected to know their linage and be able to recite it when getting to know someone

White people are called racial slurs, white children are spit at and called names in school.

So here is another example of WHITE PEOPLE NOT WANTED HERE
except for the tourist dollars

Even in, in many upscale stores the clerks are told not to wait on white people because they don't spend enough money. This was told to me when I complained about service in Hawaii, by a CEO of a famous and very upscale department store.

During the founding of the country is a footnote that is left out, there were white slaves also brought over from Europe as indentured servants who had little to no hope of buying their own freedom.

So to say black people have the right to riot, loot, kill etc
and not be harmed while doing it because

150 years ago their great-great-great grandparents were slaves is

like Obama blaming Bush for all of Obama's failures over the last 6 years.

I'm not saying these things as a racist, as many of you will claim, but rather because it is the truth,

and the truth has no place in our society when it comes to being politically correct.

It is more acceptable and desirable to speak in a politically correct way
and lie your ... off, than to tell the truth.

Do the rioters not realize that it was blacks who sold slaves to the Europeans,

and it is black people to this very day that capture slaves, sell them and hold them as property?

These riots are a blame game, but because they trashed and looted black businesses, even a black hair salon, and most importantly to know a teenage boy was killed during the rioting. That sounds like poor character and even worse parenting, not discrimination against black people.

They are avoiding the real culprits of nearly 3000 blacks killed by other blacks each year.
Look up this in a government website if you are shocked and don't believe it.

The real problem is within now or we would not have a black President and black head of the Federal Department of Justice.

When justice was done and served by a grand jury

with the assistance of the DOJ who wanted to see the police officer go down,

and the policeman after intense scrutiny was found innocent due to self protection.

When justice was done, what did black leaders do?

Farrakkahn said to riot more, Sharpton said to riot more,

the Black Panthers suggested killing white people just because they are white.

This is evidence of some sort of breakdown within the black community,

that has poisoned the minds of young black people
,

who think education is something one doesn't do as a "brother",

who think any black person who has made it in the US is betraying the black race.

Keep telling yourself that.
There is obvious division in the protest, an echelon. If you are not Black you are not as important, plain and simple. Any school child would know this, it is no different then telling someone to get to the back of the bus because of their skin color.

As one poster said, it's still division. Would you feel the same way if a group of white people told black people "you can't be with us, but you can stand on the sides in solidarity"?

Did you really just say that some races are smarter than others???

Some PEOPLE are smarter than others, but it's not related to race.

What? Ferguson IS a black people's protest. Not a white protest. Your question doesn't make any sense.

I agree with you. I think we all know the stereotype that Asian people are super smart. Not always true, I've known some Asian kids that weren't smart.

No race is superior to another, we're all the same.

So...white folks who feel there was/is an injustice should just keep it to themselves? Sign a petition maybe? Start a facebook group?

There's no restrictions being placed, it's a request. Generally when you go to support something that is outside of yourself you respect the wishes of the people you are going to support. It's not complicated.

I'm a white male, whom was adopted along with my two siblings and my sister is half black. Two of me dear friends growing up were black and while we often talked about racial issues, it had no bearing on our friendships. And while not a black person who has been subjected to racial prejudice, I have been profiled a number of times by cops growing up, getting pulled over and harassed of a dozen times as a teen, not once given a ticket/citation, for looking suspicious. I was physically assaulted by one cop on a power trip for refusing a search of my car after he ran two red lights, pulled me over, confronted me with his gun drawn and forced me onto the pavement because apparently I didn't signal a full 300 ft before I made a turn, and this was back in the days before we all had GPS in our cars and I was simply trying to find a colleague's house for a dinner party.

So where do I fall in this? There's two issues here, intertwined. One, there is clear racism in our justice system and blacks certainly should protest against it. Two, police brutality is effecting everyone, all races, coast to coast. People should be protesting that too and what's happened in Ferguson and NYC recently is a combination of both.
