As it is the Taliban maintain strong tribal support as an organization that is confronting a government it considers a Western pawn.

The difference being, these Taliban fighters CHOSE to go to war. People like this mother did not. If the families of the Taliban are upset that their TERRORIST siblings are dead, they need to check themselves. No one asked to be bombed to death, no one asked to have their heads lobbed off...

Something these Taliban animals are far too comfortable and willing to do. Let their families try it as well, hopefully more awesome woman like this Afghan mother stands up and says, "No more!" and takes out 25+ more!

Sympathy for an oppressive regime that enslaved people for decades.

I always enjoy seeing westerners who have never been to Afghanistan and seen what the Taliban actually do talk about it with such authority..

Your academic view of the situation in Afghanistan is a product of the comfortable environment by which you are able to view these struggles. Nice and far away from the ground reality.

Who the hell are you to pass judgement on people you have never known, and assume you understand a situation you've never been a part of? Its so easy to spout off ridiculous and ignorant "High brow" opinions from the comfort of your home.

Some of us have been there and seen what goes on first hand.

That's this woman's life. Its her home. The people in the ANA and her son, in the Security Forces, signed up to protect their homes from the Taliban. They can't move. They can't just leave Afghanistan as you suggest.

You cannot fathom the struggle they endure every day.

Your equating the Taliban to some anti-western ideology fighting for "freedom" is ignoring history and purposefully turning a blind eye to the suffering of regular Afghans. I have seen the gruesome reality of what the Taliban is willing to do to get their way. If you had seen what I've seen you would understand why stories like this should be cheered on not demeaned by spoiled westerners who find all too easy to oversimplify and dismiss the realities these people deal with.

I have friends in Afghanistan. Not just other soldiers, but actual Afghans. Good people who just want a normal life in peace. But these folks are willing to fight for that peace because they know the Taliban would destroy everything they've worked for.

You think the only people fighting the Taliban is the West.

In fact most of the fighting is being done by villagers and Afghan soldiers and police trying to hold something very fragile together so that their kids can grow up in an Afghanistan that has schools, running water, an some basic comforts you and I take for granted.

And here you are condemning the actions of those Afghans who fight back.
