A long time ago, Right after i moved to Seattle,
i got a regular weekly phone call from my mom.
On this particular call,
my mom asked me some Very Personal Questions.
Very Personal.
""I just want to know, are you having sex with any woman out there"?
ying not to laugh>
"We'll--,, Yes,, Mom"--

"Why do you want to know?"
"are You Using Condoms?" she clearly asked.
uh, yeah,, of course, Sure,,

- "Well, I heard, that Condoms sometimes break,,
so will you do this for me,, and Wear two Condoms?"
---"just incase" ..

"" I just want to know,,,Are You Flying in, from out there?
ying not to laugh>
"We'll--,, Yes,, Mom"--
"You know this.."
""Are you sitting over the Wing"?

for a huige part of my life my aunt raised me, and she was kinda like that.
because of her now i'm 31 and still look both ways when crossing a oneway street.
and i take pride in that.

Hey... You never know when a drunk or a senile elderly driver might decide to take a wrong turn. It's far from stupid to NOT look both ways when crossing the street.

I've seen plenty of folks driving the wrong way on a one way street and I live in the boondocks. I imagine it could get much livelier in a bigger city lol.

I look both ways before I go through a green light as well.

Survival of the fittest and all that junk, yeah?

Speaking of silly though... I had a bulb blow in my ceiling fan tonight when my husband was going to bed. It shattered the glass and the bulb. I told him that we needed another light fixture anyway because I didn't like the ceiling fan.

He said to me...

You'll be glad to have it if the power goes out in the summer time during a heat wave.

I just looked at him.

And looked at him.

Looked some more....

And walked off.

Sometimes.

As a child here we were taught to look to the left then right then left again . I could never understand that as our traffic comes from the right . We look twice in the wrong direction .

If your memory is not at fault, then your teacher must have been.
In our school we were taught "Look right, look left, look right again" - which is, as you observe, the more effective way of doing it.

P.S. Did you also get the film-strip about the road-crossing adventures of Little Dolly Daydream?

In the middle of caravan holidays in France, my mother always made a point of regular phone contact, to make sure that her sons were still safe.
The odd thing was, she was the one who was away from home in France...
