The typical response of an American whose desperate enough on defending an Issue where the majority of Americans dont even know where Ukraine is located on a map.

And what exactly does that have to do with anything discussed in this thread?

Also what does it matter whether or not Americans know where Ukraine is located on a map we aren't fighting there.

Funny thing is I can probably go to South America and find just as many people that couldn't locate it, so what is your point?

Yes it is.

And you can back these claims, because as of yet you haven't but keep trying as it is very entertaining.

I am not surprised you would even defend this vote.

Well as far as I know I haven't defended anything, because the post your replying to has nothing to do with the vote.

Didn't we already do this thread a month or so ago? What this resolution attempts to do is limit free speech. Last time I checked the First Amendment is all a out protecting free speech. So why would anyone be surprised that the US and Canada vote against a resolution that seeks to limit free speech? Also the fact that Russia proposed this kind of shows they could care less about free speech despite what their supporters keep saying.

UN's anti-Nazism Resolution

Do they plan to extend it to every form of ethnic proselytism still present in our world or, is pure hypocrisy pushed by the usual whiners ?

Communism is just as dangerous as Neo-Nazism. In fact, Stalin killed more in peace time. I for one would like to see Nazism and Communism, as well as it's symbols, banned in public. This should solve the issues with idiots on both sides. F*** them both, they have no place in society.

What is it with Russia and Nazi's.............You would think they would be more afraid of Communism considering more people lost there lives because of Communism.....Just saying.

Since when has banning anything actually worked. If anything it only makes everything worse.

Just curious since you approve of Russia voting yes:

I have corrected the link. Russia was one of the several nations who sponsored the Resolution, so it's no surprise they voted yes. My point is that Russia has its fair share on neo-Nazi groups that it does nothing about.

Regards

I understand it's hard to say anything...

To me, this is disgusting beyond belief. Here we have two countries who try to positions themselves as the most pro-Israeli on the planet (the US and Canada) and the EU which has even passed laws making not only Nazi propaganda illegal, but jailing those who would dare investigate the mass murder of Jews by the Nazis (the so-called 'Holocaust'). And yet these putatively anti-Nazi and "democratic" countries are now refusing to condemn the heroization of Nazism not so much because they particularly like Nazis, but because they want to "protect" the Ukrainian junta. As for the Ukrainians themselves, they have suffered more from Nazis then any other country or ethnic group, and yet they also refused to condemn the heroization of Nazism. This makes a mockery not only of all their so-called principles and values, it also is an act of obscene disrespect for the millions of Ukrainian murdered by the Nazis. There is one good thing about all this: it shows clearly and unequivocally how much the western elites truly hate Russia and that this hate clearly trumps any other considerations or values.

Has anyone bothered to actually read this draft resolution? If you did, you would know why some countries voted against it while others abstained. Here are some examples:

Expresses deep concern about the glorification, in any form, of the Nazi movement, neo-Nazism and former members of the Waffen SS organization, including by erecting monuments and memorials and holding public demonstrations in the name of the glorification of the Nazi past, the Nazi movement and neo-Nazism, as well as by declaring or attempting to declare such members and those who fought against the anti-Hitler coalition and collaborated with the Nazi movement participants in national liberation movements;

UN draft proposal [Emphasis mine. --DJW001

Note how expansive the phrase "in any form" is. It is so broad that an anti-war film like Das Boot might be construed as glorifying Nazism because it portrays its characters in a sympathetic light. Also note that it specifically bans nationalists who collaborated with the Germans in order to fight Soviet occupation from being commemorated. This is clearly aimed directly at Ukraine, where survivors of Stalin's holodomor joined forces with Germany to expel the Soviet occupation.

Expresses concern at recurring attempts to desecrate or demolish monuments erected in remembrance of those who fought against Nazism during the Second World War

UN draft resolution

Another dig at former Soviet territories and satellites. This clause would make it "illegal" to tear down statues of Stalin or Soviet solders.

Expresses deep concern at attempts at commercial advertising aimed at exploiting the sufferings of the victims of war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the Second World War by the Nazi regime;

UN draft resoltion

Another ambiguous "poison pill." Would a Jewish charity be forbidden to use images of the Holocaust for fundraising purposes?

Expresses deep concern regarding the increased number of seats occupied by representatives of extremist political parties in national and local parliaments in a number of countries and regions, as well as the fact thatb] in some countries traditional political parties continue to form coalitions with them;

UN draft resolution [Emphasis mine. --DJW001

Another direct jab at Ukraine, although Hungary and other former Soviet satellites also fall in to this category. Why is Fascism such a problem in former Communist countries, do you suppose? Anyway, the ambiguity of the language might disqualify UKIP from being in a coalition government.

Encourages States to adopt and strengthen measures to improve diversitywithin law enforcement agencies and impose appropriate sanctions against those within the public service found guilty of racially motivated violence or of using hate speech;

UN draft resolution

Can't leave the good ol' USA out, can we?

I suggest everyone read the full text to understand the actual purpose of the resolution. Russia proposed it specifically because it knew the wording would be unacceptable to Ukraine, other former Communist nations, many European nations and the United States and Canada. It was a publicity stunt designed to make Ukraine and the United States look bad.

Why is Fascism such a problem

He was captured on 24th August by Ukrainian National Guard paramilitary.
Neo-Nazis burned word "separatist" on his chest and Nazi swastika sign on his bottom with burning hot chain and bayonet knife.
Ukrainian paramilitaries were under influence of drugs and constantly drinking energy drinks.
Many people, including civilians and women, were chained to each other and thrown into dug holes. Afterwards they were forced to walk into minefields where many died.
Young girls were also chained, tortured and abused.
He saw at least two dozens of pits full of people, most of them naked, even without underwear.
He saw around 30 captured people when he was not blindfold, both civilians and POWs.
Finally he was taken to Kharkov and handed to Ukrainian counterintelligence. Conditions in a cell were terrible since cell was made for 12 people but 30 prisoners were held there.
Other man also witnessed throwing captives in pits, shooting them in their knees and beating with baseball bats. After torture they slept with bound hands in pits or on concrete surrounded by rotten corpses.

it knew the wording would be unacceptable

Wording? What are you talking about? Tens of thousands were killed in Ukraine till now because of the "operation" "F*ck_the_EU_Nuland" and "Shale Gas Hunter".

What are you talking about? This thread is about the sham "anti-Nazi" resolution that Russia proposed in the UN for propaganda purposes. Have they offered to strike out the offending clauses? On a related note, Putin has now outlawed an organization dedicated to commemorating Stalin's atrocities. reply to: maghun

The proposed resolution is a sham, not the Nazis. Putin knew that the language would have violated existing anti-censorship laws in some countries, restricted freedom of speech, assembly and association in others, and would serve to vilify anti-Soviet partisans. Reply to: maghun

I for one would like to see all symbols of Republicans and Capitalists banned in society. This should solve all the issues caused by these ideologies. You know what throw Christianity in there too. Think about all the blood on their hands.
