A phone call (Poem)

A day so cold, so close to a feast.
Turkey, potatoes, sadness, empty souls.
A phone call can shatter all that’s close
Something time refuses to really heal.

At the bar for a reason of liquids
Explaining myself, an impossibility
I righted my ship but what’s the point
That quick and I’m back inside the shadows.

Rain can’t hit me, neither can the sun.
Pain is all I know, fully caught in its embrace.
I bet one day I’ll really understand.
I just know that it will be too late.

Brother, what happened?
Why can you not get this life?
It’s not meant to be easy.
A pain that, we all must conquer.

I wish for one more day.
Put me back with a load of laundry
Send me back to my parent’s basement.
A visit, with a conversation.

These are words I’ll never say.
To a face that no longer holds cells.
I want one more moment.
A glimpse of time no one can deliver.

Why will this pain not leave?
Anger to empathy back to depression
Tears to smiles back to quiet.
No words to say to anyone.
Everyone cares but I can’t discuss it.

My boss says the phone is for me.
An attic filled with demons.
They have another man.
Helpless the phone falls.
I just want this pain to end.

I thank you for that. It's why I do write, although not as frequently as I'd like to, but it does help. I'm too critical on myself though so I like to get it out there for others to read but am also shy enough that I have just recently done so. I am a conundrum of a human being. a reply to: WanDash

Sharing that pain does help, for Me anyways. The dreaded phone call, technology sucks at times, eh? I am with WanDash and Care. He's got a valid point. Time tested and proven to Help is talking things out. This Web-Site is great for compassion. These guys helped me through some pretty dark times, Most of Whom I didn't know before 'the storm' hit Me, and I appreciate ALL Who helped steer Me to 'clear weather'......!!!
