For the record, I don't make threats either, online or in person. If I am going to beat or kill someone, I am just going to do it, not blow hot air about it. I may be snarky at times, sometimes rude even, but I don't make threats.

Obviously for your age you have not been on the internet long. First of all most women on line are men, and most men online well about half are men and the rest are women, and that old joke about the CIA well its only funny because its true. But on assholes male online oh noz gods forbid such a thing. What I am saying is Oh yea there is plenty of that, on this site its not bad, but on others it prevalent. Also, there are some pretty nasty females out there, a great majority of those dudes have met them me thinks. Most males would pretty much say straight out what there about the assholes are not hard to find, but were as the females generally go to some great lengths and some bizarre roundabout ways to implant barbs in some, I do beleive there are some real nasty pieces of works out there. And if your female, the majority of it is condoned, or kept on the low and low it seems.

Its like this some weeks ago there was this thing on Facebook and youtube, a video of some chick walking around NY I believe and getting cat calls. And well the responses are pretty much as you would expect, from the feminists to the guys with the extreme sexual comments. And me? Well I think that if she did not want to make a scene she would not be walking in yoga pants in parts of town were she knows she is going to get cat called and all kinds of comments all while somebody is filming it. I mean I do believe she was working real hard at not cracking a smile during that whole vid. And what would be worse then getting cat called, well that would be if she got no response at all from the guys, not only would there be no video to make, but who knows what will happen then, if she did not get any male attention for any long period of time maybe even a week, she would likely go feminist on some poor fool, probably one of her boyfriends or exes or whatever.

I was going to respond to the hundreds of other responses on those two sites, but you know your doomed if you do and doomed if you dont were such things are concerned, can you just imagine all the # I would get if I even said that much. In all those type of things will repeat themselfs, even on ATS years ago I couldn't come into this site without the whole battle of the sexes on a weekly basis there was at least a few threads. In fact one of my first posts on this site was on one of those threads, I forgot what it was about but it involved skinny jeans and some poor fool getting it in court over some charges. It was so much bull it nearly boggled my mind. But now things are better on this site, instead of a weekly thing, it now only happens every 6 months or so, which is a better ratio I suppose.

Which brings me to my point. Your a moderator right, I got a great idea to how we can help diminish such things on this site. Or whoever is the big honcho around here. So ya! What I think we should do is bring back the "Ignore" button. I never saw a need of it before but now, its a great idea. I think we should take a poll on it, you know vote on it, go about it the democratic way and all that jive.

And if women on this site dont like what a guy is saying, well hit the ignore button. I never used it before when it was around, but now I have been enlightened to its usefulness, I have seen the light to its brilliance you could say. And I have at least 5 or 8 people I dont want to hear anything from or know they exist on this site, I do believe at least 4 of them are women, including one not from that long ago. I mean, I really do hate to be an asshole, but you dam right I will be if its necessary. Which I do believe is necessary, but all of that can be avoided, if and when, ie which is were the ignore button comes in.

So ya, somebody does not like rude comments. Hit ignore, it will not solve the all problems but it would solve some things, and maybe we can make it last permanently, shouldn't be that hard to do, even if the person comments on your thread maybe we can make it so there is nothing there, if some guy is calling some female all kinds of names, well ignore and you will never see him ever again. I believe it would solve a great majority of problems. So ya! Bring back the ignore button. I mean your a moderator, go talk to whoever is in charge of buttons on this site, and also why your at it, can we bring back majority of the emoticons as well.

I work with a wide range of people every day. In my experience, the males who are the most vile towards women on the Internet are usually the ones who had the worst childhoods. These "men" are also wimps in person. They are the road-rage morons behind the wheel of a car, but are gutless when out amongst people.

Yep. You're right.

I've been "online" since about 1996-7? I think. I am also a woman and an online gamer (fps no less). I had this interesting thing happen a few years back where a collection of guys were routinely sexually harassing me and well, all sorts of things happened as a result. I ran into that same group of guys, who were daft enough to wear matching clothes signifying who they were at a LAN gaming event that I happened to be that. I totally confronted them--calmly, of course, as that's how I roll. I basically tore down that veil of anonymity. It was kind of classic really because I'm on the taller side and was wearing heeled boots so I quite literally towered over them. As I was talking to them though, I was observing everything about them and I realized exactly what they were.

They were the kids that probably got bullied in the hallways and who the girls of their dreams never even knew existed. Every single one of those guys was a total nerd with a chip on their shoulder and a penchant for feeling like they were somehow greater and better online. They were totally different in person. They couldn't even meet my eyes except for the cheeky Asian kid in their group with whom I'd never had a problem with. They were quiet, a few even stammered when they tried to speak. All the bravado and tough guy talk was totally sapped from them. They were what they were and what they were online was just a persona. What they thought was cool. It's cool to be a bully right? Bad guys get the girls so being a misogynist pig is cool, right?

And the funny thing was that I was always that girl when I was growing up in high school that didn't judge somebody by their appearances or how they talked. Social status didn't matter to me one bit and those guys figured that out because I wasn't mean. I just talked to them, person to person. A couple apologized on the spot. The other two added me on a player client to apologize online.

So, these days when I run into a real misogynistic jerk online, I undermine them. I tell them that some woman must have hurt them bad to lash out at a woman they don't even know and who did nothing to them online. I apologize for whatever that woman did and ask if they want to talk about it. It blows them away. The last thing they expect ever is kindness. Then I show them my humanity, tell them how many times a day I run into someone that does something like they just did. They tend to apologize at that point. Then they leave. I've been doing that since 2009 at about a rate of 3-4 times a week at the least. It's only failed once because I see them and they know that their online persona doesn't fool me.

In my opinion there shouldn't be a crime against what amounts to writing and reading text on a computer screen. Doing so makes words out to be weapons, and shows the online bully to have some sort of power, giving them exactly what they want. If anything, such comments are a reflection of the speaker, in no way reflecting the one they are spoken against. Further, such comments shame the one who comments, and it is easy to point out that sort of stupidity and laugh, rather than take offence. Just make them feel stupid.

I'm no angel. It took actually confronting them to really see them for the first time, too, so it went both ways. It's not easy to do when you have somebody practically screaming out every offensive word they can think of and more at you over a mic. Staying calm and being kind in that setting is hard and sometimes, I just can't do it. But, when I do, I think it helps both them, me, and maybe other female gamers, too. One thing I also do is I will go after fellow female gamers who are just as vicious verbally as well. I actually get messaged to assist people from time to time in these things after they've been mistreated. Pretty sure I should be running under some super hero nickname. Maybe Darkwing Duck, lol, though I'm pretty sure that what I actually am is a smooth talking online fps gaming hitman that hits them where it really counts.

I should've also added that it works for those lone wolves that do this kind of thing. Not when they are in packs as then they are feeding off of each other. We have other methods for those types and it goes pure Grecian Empire--might makes right so beat them at the game and philosophically. Different tactic for packs.

i think there's a difference between what most women want as far as equality goes and what feminazis want. feminism isn't feminazism. so let's just say for the record that feminazism that acts like men don't have needs and values as important and in balance with women are in effect, a tool being used by some particularly clever social engineers to elicit the exact opposite response from the male population, who are only gonna put up with that kind of treatment for so long before there's a huge pendulum swing to the opposite side.

If it were for the equal rights of both sexes it would be called Humanism.

Feminism is exclusively about securing rights and freedoms for women alone. It achieved its aim, at least in Western countries, years ago. What radical feminists now want is the same freedoms as men minus the responsibilities that accompany them. That is why you will find strong opposition to feminism - not because people fear/hate women but because they want equal freedoms without taking responsibility like men have to do.

So you're sort of saying that some Feminism is acceptable (so long as it's not a Manly Acting type of Feminism which you then in turn define as FemiNazism. Are you frightened by manly acting Feminism (if her voice is a little too deep for example, that might be bad Feminism.. what if she's tall and brawny and maybe even more muscular than some men for example.. that might scare some people off as well.. Hmm, you're uncomfortable with ladies who are manly looking or manly feeling.. maybe she takes after her father, in the same way that some feminine looking men take after their mother's profile..

What responsibilities are you referring to? This is very ambiguous..you then later state: "not because people fear/hate women but because they want equal freedoms without taking responsibility like men have to do." What responsibilities are women attempting to flee, or absolve themselves from, while they attempt to seek and obtain their natural freedom? That's very ambiguous and odd sounding..

well i'm a female, and i don't care what configuration females come in, provided they are happy. feminazism is like a form of governance being used to politically shape the landscape. its being used primarily against white males but black and hispanic males have had their fair share of it, too. it's used as a way to relieve political opponents of their rights as citizens and human beings. and it's pissing off more and more people. some groups are charging into the void and changing the narrative to make it anti-female, as a sort of comeuppance to women in general. this fits right into the developing world order, which must find a happy medium between completely misogynist cultures and western nations. so the whole thing is being deliberately and maliciously, i might add, engineered.
