Absolutely, man.

Makes no sense to hold people accountable for the sins of their ancestors.

Slavery still goes on today. Technically all people should "feel guilty" since all races participate in it. And even though it's a small fraction of the population, by the logic of those who say whites should feel guilty, all should feel guilty.

No sense at all...

To the topic, take away the race, the gender, her profession.

You then have someone who voiced an opinion and it wasn't popular.

The individual was then punished. For having an opinion.

Yes, there are double, triple, quadruple standards in the US.

Yes if an eskimo was eating baby seal while texting Beyonce' about Carbon Credits, it'd been okay.

But it wasn't.

So we have a choice, people.

We can support and defend (even the idiots) for true free speech without fear of reprisal, or we join the PC crowd who just got offended because I broke wind in a crowded elevator.

I'm far far from Texas. Though anyone who is anti PC should jump on this.

A class action suit against "crackers".

Before realizing the person is ignorant, most people are offended when they're the target of racism. No matter what color or nationality a person is, they're still human beings and despite what some may claim racism hurts all races.

As a species we can't advance if we recognize the rights of some humans while ignoring the rights of others because of what their ancestors may have done in the past.

Racism is wrong no matter who the target is.

Racism is wrong.

But there will always be racists.

There will always be idiots.

Personally, I'd rather have a society where they are free to be as racist and/or idiotic-hateful as they want without repercussion or punishment.

That way I can avoid them.

I agree it's 100% wrong but even if some feel certain terms aren't racist it doesn't mean they should be used lol.

True but I don't think many would appreciate it if someone posted the n word or words for other races on this board.

I can only imagine the crapstorm that would have ensued had the teacher been white and had used a racial slur offensive to black people, so why are we not getting the same outrage when a black person uses a racial slur against a white person? Is it not racist either way? If one does not believe that then you do not believe in equality, but in superiority. Equality means the same standards for all races, plain and simple. What does surprise me is that she was fired in the first place. I imagine that now the outrage will be over her firing, and the race card will be played, even though SHE is the one who made the racist comment. Mark my words, as it will occur in precisely this way.

Equality requires those at the top to fall and those at the bottom to rise. Since whites are generally speaking better off then blacks generally speaking it stands to reason that black on white racism is not as bad as white on black racism.

They are both bad. In an ideal world no one would be racist as it's ridiculous to any rational person but we are not there yet.

In all likelihood, her teaching contract had some section about social media conduct. This would be what she violated which led to her getting fired. Most schools have them now.

Thing is she is a teacher.
Would you be happy knowing a racist is teaching your kids?.
She could have just kept her feelings between her pals but decided to share her racist views online for all to see.
Many jobs have social media clauses in them, my job does and I have seen people fired for saying things that they shouldn't.
We have confidentiality laws which we can't break.

It is not illegal to be racist, though.

She, in essence, was punished for being racist. she was tried in the court of public opinion and found guilty without a jury of her peers.

I don't like what she said. she painted herself as an idiot.

But she should be free enough to be an idiot.

She will have clauses in her contract about social media.
She broke them and deserves to be fired.
I ask again would you be happy with a racist teaching your kids?.

to be honest? No. I wouldn't. Have racist people taught my children? Probably. Have I interacted with people who hold racist views in daily life? Most assuredly.

I see this as a form of social engineering, punishing certain behaviours and rewarding other types.
