Holy Catholic Ghostbusters...

A Vatican university said on Thursday it will hold a special "theoretical and practical" course for Roman Catholic priests on Satanism and exorcism in response to what the Church says is a worrying interest in the occult, particularly among the young.

This year, Italy was gripped by the story of two teenage members of a heavy metal rock band called the "Beasts of Satan" who were killed by other band members in a human sacrifice.

The deaths horrified Catholic Italy, with pages of newspapers given over to descriptions of the black candles and goats' skulls decorating one victim's bedroom and witness statements of sexual violence.

The Regina Apostolorum, one of Rome's most prestigious pontifical universities, said in a statement that such episodes should be seen as an "alarm bell to take seriously a problem which is still far too underestimated."

"In the last few years there has been a lot of interest in Satanism and it develops because of the media. It's not that the devil is in the media, rock and roll or the Internet but the media can be damaging when it is used the wrong way," Carlo Climati, one of the professors of the course, told Reuters.

Do you think it's just propaganda or are they really learning some Ghost Busin' Skills? The article talks about the formula to use but it is apparently cut of at the end of the article......wierd...whaddaya think?

If there are some special verses to get satan out of the house, are there special verses to invite him in?? Or special verses to put a hex on your friends? or enemies?

Is being possessed by some entity like how it is depicted in movies like the exorcist? Can you be possessed and that experience being a positive experience? And why is Satan depicted as an evil spirit?

If you feel like there is another person in you, would that be considered being possessed? Sort of like the movie a Beautiful Mind. Maybe I am just crazy.

I don't know what being possessed looks like and I am glad I haven't seen it, it probably is a very scary thing. Emotionally draining I am sure too, just to witness someone possessed. I don't think possession is ever a good thing. Do you want to be possessed, to have your free will taken away from you? Even if you were being possessed to do good and great things, you probably wouldn't like the thought of not being in control of your will. Why is satan Evil, because he is????!!!??

I was writing on a message board on the night that Ronald Reagan died. I saw him, I didn't know that he had died. I read back what I wrote using my message board handle and I was claiming to be Satan, and Satan was a woman who claimed to be able to control the weather. Than I had notice hurricanes and I knew that it was going to happen because I saw it before it happened.

Is that crazy or what? I am afraid to go talk to anyone because they will put me in a loony bin for sure.

I know that they are still there inside my mind. I they because there are seven of them and one of them is a black woman who claims to be Satan.

I know more about the world and people. I wouldn't describe my experience as being evil?

I saw Ronald Reagan and Satan was telling him that he had killed with his will and not his sword.

She also said that a person is marked and they were destined to commit what ever it is that they would be judged for. Ronald was marked because she said that his name Ronald Wilson Reagan, added up to 666.

I mean, if your running a business, you educate your employees on the latest news, prepare them for an upcomming task.

If your in the business of spirituality, you do the same!

I believe it is time for everyone that knows Light from dark to educate themselves and learn to protect and assist.

Sure there are things about the church that needs addressing....... but if you hear they are taking classes on fighting satan, you better listen.

You don't have to be in an organized religion, just know Light from dark.

Ask for inner assistance.

Not the devil. The topic was exorcising Satan. The devil is a man, for only man can commit evil, on this world anyways.

Satan is a woman. A black woman and she is not evil like how it is depicted in movies and books.

Tesla, you bring up some interesting ideas. I hope you are right.

My first thoughts were not that they knew something we didn't. but that they were preparing to strike down those who are non-believers. A 21st century inquisition for those of us who believe in alternative ideas. All of shich the Catholic Church deems pagan and evil.

How bout that Bishop/Cardinal that turned a blind eye and deaf ears to all the complaints about Father O'Grady.

bedazzled had the devil played as a sexy woman but Oo that wasn't that great of a movie. I think that if the church want to protect themselfs from the occult by way of exorcism then they should go ahead as long as they dont turn evil :p. Next you will be calling a priest when you have occult problems but thats what they did before so its not much different.

Having a sexy sultress platy the devil and having the whole 'line in the contract' thing wasn't a very good idea for the movie, they should have made it more dark. It was like a fairy tale for children telling them the devil can be a nice woman. maybe it was male propaganda

I've been possessed before, its not a fun experience at all. I would guess its like being schizophrenic but I'm not. However there was literallly another force inside of me fighting for control of me, specifically what I believed to be the truth. It wasn't like I blanked out and it controlled me, it was kind of like having an argument within youself and as the force gets more and more powerful to get its way. I remember eventually I was unable to move it was so strong. Eventually I just gave in and told it it was right and for a good 2 years it has some bearing on my life, kind of in the vein of the guys sitting on your shoulders telling you whats right and wrong. Eventually I took a trip into the wilderness for 6 weeks, drove up to northern Alaska, and it was only there that with the help of God through prayer I was able to break its hold and drive it out. Not something I'd like to repeat.

I am not sure if possession is real or not, but the people that this happens to are convinced that they are in serious trouble, and if preforming this type of ritual can help them i see no danger in this help at all.

Not to bring up another movie but.... did you see the made for tv movie a couple of weeks ago about a family on the east coast who lived in a very haunted house. And just about everyone in the house was being taunted and physically abused by unseen entitys to the point that the church was brought in to hold an exorcism. Apparently it was based on a true story and it went through the various treatments used by the preists to rid this family of their tormenters. It was very well done.

There has only been once that I really needed help with these kinds of things - only once I couldn't tend to the problem myself. The Catholic church, once deciding it wasn't a hoax, wouldn't come anywhere near it. The ArchBishop refused to return any more phone calls etc.
I personaly don't think the Catholic church wants anything to do with 'real' problems. It would rather just throw holy water around and 'bless' a house when a crazy lady freaks on a bump in the night.


As far as special verses? It's like I was saying in the thread "costum magic", the rituals and cerimonies are more for the people to get in the right frame of mind than real power to the words.
There are steps to take, but no special wording is better than other wording. (There are exceptions to every rule)

I haven't seen you around here, but that isn't a bad thing. I drank a lot tonight so it's taking a lot outta me to make sure I spell everthing correctly, about one outtta ten words...

I think you shed some real insight into this post and I hope we can take this further, not just for the points either. What then is the church up to with this new 'class'. I whole heartedly agree with you that the church is not up for the task (now one in five) of correcting problems as I am correcting my drunken mistakes. So...What is the point? Propaganda? I haven't a clue, that's why I posted this in the first place and I think you shed some real light on the situation.. Thank you...

p.s. If you were to see this with all the mistakes i made it ould look like this because at thisk poin t in the evening my words aren't cming out very clealy!!!
