Just like you don't use broad strokes about dems?
Good deal.

I would like to restate that the 'Southern' Dems were the ones that wanted slavery not the 'Northern' Dems

My apologies for the misstatement there....
Didn't mean to use that big azz brush

Could use some of that painters tape too. LOL

Racism lives every where, not just amongst one group of people

All groups of people have a racist or 2 in their mix

Rep.-- yes, some are racist
But so are some Dems

Sharpton & Jackson are 2 of the most racist people around, instigators to boot
And they are Dems

What race has to do with the topic at hand, I have no idea
We need to get back on track & not derail this thread more than we already have

Any political party that does not do what is best for the people should be thrown out on their ass. Once again, we see that huge dividing line that keeps us at each others throats and Them in power. I joined my share of Obama and Dem bashing threads, but neither party has Our best interests at heart, only keeping themselves in control over us. We need to keep the Republicans under a microscope, just as we have the Dems and bash them just as hard when they screw up.
Notice I didn't say "If".

I remember when ATS wasn't all about partisan bickering.. I don't understand why anyone would look to the Republicans as saviours?

Haven't you had enough of both parties by now? The synthesis of both parties policies sets a trajectory for fascism and third world status. Things don't ever change do they? Voting in these same puppets, it's the same old story again and again. Cosmetic differences is all there is, in the end they're all bought and paid for by interests that are rather inimical to the interests of the people.

I just don't get it.

Many democrats are racist. How many voted for Obama because of his skin color?
Stop with the race card. It is silly.

I agree with previous posters, this election won't change things.
And Obama will attempt to rule via executive order. Same ol' same ol'.

I Voted here in Massachusetts for Independents and other 3rd Parties. I'm sick of Corrupt D's and especially R's.
The positive result of this is that by getting 3% The United Independent Party is now an Official Party meaning it will part of Televised debates with the R's and D's which was in my opinion was very unfair and determined by the Media, not the People.

Now we have a Republican Gov, "Country Club Charlie Baker".

I'd say you are close to what I think will happen. I agree with your elections going in cycles thing, but you are wrong about the DNC maintaining the Presidency in 2016. The Republicans will take it for the next 8 years. They'll have 4 or so years of RNC controlled government then after the Republican President is reelected, the Democrats will slowly start to retake Congress. By the time the Republican President is 6 years into his Presidency, he'll be sitting with a Democrat controlled Congress poised to retake the Presidency in 2 years. This happened in 1992, 2000, and 2008. I see it happening the same way in 2016 and 2024. Americans have short memories, and this is what allows tptb to maintain the 2 party illusion of choice.

Meanwhile, everyone celebrates the Republican victories yesterday, not realizing that they just voted for the same nonsense in a different wrapper. Good job everyone!

I am being willingly naive for the next six months and just want to see what this Congress does and how the President reacts. I think that will say a lot.

I do expect to see a lot of Vetoes and Executive orders coming out of the White House though. Harry Reid prevented a crapload of bills from ever reaching the WH and now that roadblock has been removed.

It's going to be interesting to say the least.

Martin Luther King Jr. - "Actually, the Negro has been betrayed by both the Republican and the Democratic party. The Democrats have betrayed him by capitulating to the whims and caprices of the Southern Dixiecrats. The Republicans have betrayed him by capitulating to the blatant hypocrisy of reactionary right wing northern Republicans. And this coalition of southern Dixiecrats and right wing reactionary northern Republicans defeats every bill and every move towards liberal legislation in the area of civil rights. "

Martin Luther King Jr - "I don't think the Republican party is a party full of the almighty God nor is the Democratic party. They both have weaknesses ... And I'm not inextricably bound to either party."

It truly baffles the mind how little American history people know.

I'm waiting to see someone post, what a great democrat Abraham Lincoln was.

The republican party has racism as it's base? Really? Really, really?? (face palm)

Democrats don't deserve this.

The people deserve what they vote for.

We got 2 terms of Obama because the people bought the snake oil.

This isn't a sweep because republicans are so great.

This was because democrats were so awful.

There's still a lot to do. Push for 3rd party candidates. Lets not rest on our laurels. The GOP has much to prove if they think they can get anywhere.

Neither. Like everyone before you and most likely everyone after you are doing the same thing: voting team blue, then when nothing changes voting team red, only to find that nothing changes, and then going back to team blue, ad nauseum. Most people will never learn. Would it matter whether the person molesting your kid was wearing a blue or red jacket? Has history not proven that the Rep/Dem cycle only leads to more of the same? But don't you worry. The GOP is in control now. Everything will be all skittles and rainbows. Just wait.

It takes a while for people to catch on to the cycle. Most younger people are not interested in politics. By the time they're old enough to begin to pay attention they're in their 30's or so. By the time they've 'wised-up' they are in their 60's and die off a few cycles later. This is why the cycle has repeated so predictably for so long.

I figured it out in 2008 when Obama took the Presidency then reaffirmed it in 2012 when he kept it. I'm 29 now and only stay mildly interested in politics. It's really pretty obvious for anyone who studies history.

Agreed. It just doesn't make a difference who gets what position anymore. They are all feeding from the same trough, the US taxpayers. Problem is they're loyalty is not there too,its with the lobbyists that helped fund they're campaigns.
