I thought it would be fun to try. That's it. Never done it before, and almost didn't go because it was 10 pm before I could even find someone to go with me.
I tend to wait until the last minute on things.

So, we get completely bundled up, and head out.

This is a small, old cemetery, just north of our house. It is on a hill, on the south side of the road. It isn't used anymore, but on the north side, there is a newer one that is still used, that is much larger.
The temps were somewhere between 30 and 35F. It was very windy, with gusts up to 40 mph.
The pic files say between 12:28 and 12:49, but it was around 11: 30pm that we got there.
My friend sat in the car, with it off. I was probably 3-4 feet from the car which was on my right.
I'm posting 4 pics. One directly before the ones I'm questioning, and one directly after. I have more, even of this tombstone, but I don't see anything else in any of them.

So, I'm just wondering, what this anomaly is? Personally, I think I did catch something "otherly". But I'm open minded enough to accept any real "mundane" causes.

This is just left of the tombstone

So, what do you think?

Nice tombstone - if you're in that sort of things.

Other than that, nothing that defies lens refraction, window reflexion, or exposure artifacts.

Interesting. Not window, because I'm sitting on the ground.

And why would it not be in any of the other pics of this? Not being smart, just curious.

There is a mist hovering at the edge of the foreground tombstone, which is strange if it was really windy...

It could be paranormal.

I would say it`s the flash reflecting off the tombstone onto the camera lens.

No window? Well, that at least rules out taking the pic through the car window.

In this picture...

... I see a bluriness which closely matches the tombstone's edge, leading me to think that the bluriness is caused by the tombstone. Perhaps the flash created a reflection artifact, not unlike the one you see in some images such as this one:

From personal experience, graveyards are relativity peaceful places and they are probably the last place you'd expect to see something paranormal. I could spend a night in my local cemetery and not see anything.

As for the photos will that is best left for the experts. They look like finger smudges on the lens but as I said I'm no expert.

I guess it could be, but again, why is it not on any of the other pictures of this tombstone? I have a few, as I was sitting by it.

And to me, it looks like it is behind the tombstone.

It's gonna sound stupid but it almost looks like an out of focus tombstone, a larger one like a can't think of the name. Obleisk? Interesting none the less. Either way this persons grave is now famous, or online at least viewed by millions...

Perhaps next time you could try not shooting the tombstone, so to avoid reflexion?

I definitely am into those sorts of things. I'm a taphophile.
Pictures in cemeteries are awesome.
Doesn't matter if spooks come out on them or not.
The stones themselves and the landscape ....

My favorite stones are those with the cherubs that are not much more than a flying head with wings. The tombstones during that time period are delightfully creepy.

Its a lens flare from your on camera flash bouncing into the tombstone on the left....

I guess so. So, conditions have to be "just right" to get this kind of reflection?

I'm only asking, because I have probably 35 pics I took that night, and the only 2 I can find any reflection, or anything remotely like the two above, is when I turned twards the car, and the flash did reflect off the window.

Kind of. It's all about angle of incidence and stuff. But if you're serious about it, you can always set up a small lab (dark room), place your stuff there, and make experiments to see what conditions causes the reflexions.

Why is this word not showing up in this post???????

ATS glitch. Plenty of literature here if you're interested:

Actually, that might be interesting to try.
Because I know my dang camera, inside and out. For daytime pics.

Don't do a lot of night shots.

Well, there you go.

Just out of curiosity, what's your model? The colour and the focus are pretty impressive.

If your into night photography try painting with light. It works better (IMHO) at night than using a flash.

I don't see any ghosts but they are cool pictures. S + F

There's a church in Brooklyn that holds tours of a crypt every Halloween. I don't go because I can imagine being buried then having people trod past me every Halloween in awe. People take pics all the time hoping to see a ghost.
