Why the barrel bomb? Because Syria is sorely lacking in the equipment, skills and weaponry to maintain it's ageing ground attack aircraft, so the barrel bomb is a simple solution that can be employed from any aircraft.

It is NOT, in any way shape or form, so they can "minimise innocent" casualties - quite the opposite, as it is pretty damn inaccurate. It is essentially an oil drum, filled with explosive and pushed out the back of a helicopter or transport. It rarely hits the "target", if indeed there is one other than simply bombarding a rebel held area.

So Assad is killing his own people in a civil war? Isn't that kind of what happens in a civil war?

At least he wasn't incarcerating them at obscene rates during peacetime. By all accounts he isn't nearly as evil as the media portrays him. He protected Christians and secularists. He kept stability for quite a while. He wasn't an angel but he was good for his country.

Another massive failure of regime change. I can't blame him for defending himself from Western imperialism.

I watched the linked video, and then went on to watch the one with the helicopter that drops the bomb as well. Here are my insights on what I saw.

1. There is nothing to correlate the video of the helicopter to the one with the 75 bodies laying around.
2. I'm no army expert,so can anyone on here identify this helicopter as POSITIVELY being a Syrian one?
3. I see no markings what so ever to try to identify this helicopter so good luck.
I'm not saying that Assad did this or not, what I AM saying is that these videos are really piss poor proof right now. Is it beyond Assad to do something like this to his own people? Well, I have yet to see ANY government that just can't find a reason to screw over their people. Whether it is killing Chechnyas or sending them to Vietnam or running them down in Tiananmen square,I mean come on. We all know how governments work by now don't we?

Lol no, most people don't know how governments work. Many people seem to think their own government is perfect.

I can't get the link to the video, i can only find it by watching the video at this link, then after it's over there's another video in the queue, the still image from it is a regime chopper. You can see it dropping the bomb.

It says " Alleged " and " thought to be ".
That's what the media say when they don't know who it was.

Why would Assad do these things while the US and it's allies are breathing down his neck for any excuse to bomb the sxxx out of his country......?

Especially the ones that bring so called democracy by bombing foreign people into mincemeat.

The hypocrisy is staggering when you delve into it.I watched my friends getting all giddy about the R.A.F. bombing ISIS but the truth is a ton of old women and men just sat round the kitchen table eating their evening meals with their grand kids will be blown into oblivion and all the while the people of the countries doing the bombing cannot see the irony of killing civilians as it's punishment for the killing of other civilians.

I don't care. He is bombing the same jihadist we are bombing. OMG its worse cause they are from Syria so it's his OWN people. What a bunch of BS. It's ok for us to bomb "HIS" people but he can't? LMAO? Sick of this double talk.

Removing Assad will accomplish one thing. It will ensure there are more fanatical Islamic wacko's to threaten us and that my friend is the truth of the matter.

Russia Today is completely unreliable. It is full government propaganda like FARS. If anyone is going to use Russia Today as a news source, they'd best have some solid sources other to back it up. Same here in the USA with the MSM. Never take the word of just one source. It's all full of agenda no matter if it's MSNBC, FOX, RT, FARS or BBC.

Assad has been dropping 'barrel bombs' randomly on residential areas for a long time now.

This is no secret, thousands of innocent civilians have been killed.

Assad, a man who needs to win over the public for when he eventually wins the war (and why would he fight if he didnt believe in victory?)

Assad, a man who handed over his chemical weapons while Russia said they would invade Syria themselves if the US revealed the so-called-proof they claimed to have in the regime's guilt...

Assad, the guy whose father established religious tolerance in a country in the wartorn middle east.

Who is more likely to have killed civilians deliberately with makeshift weapons? The professional military fighting for their country, or the terrorists who have already killed hundreds if not thousands of innocent people across Iraq and Syria? Why didnt the cameraman film the explosion that surely must have followed and been huge if it killed 10 people? Cmon, this story doesnt make logical sense.

Where is the video of the helicopter? I couldn't see one.... But anyway even if they are who is to say there were no terrorists in the camp? Seems to be okay for other countries to blow civilians to kingdom come to get at the terrorists no? Hell we can even torture people who we THINK could be terrorists...

As for the RT report they did show the evidence of media fakery... Especially the BBC one where they changed the voice, or you denying that?

Do RT use fakery too? Talk BS too? I dunno probably...

But yeah I think USA and co so defo go in and bomb the hell out of everything to save the people from all the bombs.... 0.o

If by 'His people', you're talking about Syrians that have taken up arms and are waging a civil war against their government, then of course he's bombing them.

These are the 'Syrians' that plant car bombs on school buses and on corners of busy market places, these are the people involved in trying to frame up the government using chemical weapons that kill their own comrades and country folk, these are the Syrians that march captured government soldiers and march them terrified to the tops of tall buildings and hurl them off the roof to have crowds of the friends desecrate the corpse...at least these are the Syrians who are not arriving from Saudi and other Syrian enemy countries.

What do you expect the Syrian government to do, shout insults over a loud hailer at them instead? I'd be doing a lot more than bombing this filth if i were Assad.

If you live by it, expect to die by it.

Exactly, and lest we forget..the POTUS has decreed that HE can and will kill American citizens, HIS own people, if he decides they are a threat to the American government...hypocrites on here much?

First off, why would Assad need to throw improvised bombs out of a helicopters when he has perfectly fine convential weapons?

Bs.

Second, if you want to at least try to back up your claims, you have to post the video of Assad's helicopter dropping the bomb on that refugee camp.

I hope it is the vid I think you are refering to so I can put an end to this steamy pile.
