You're welcome. In any case it's just one possible scenario that I'd keep on the list until something came along to break it. Many times in rural and poor areas superstition runs rampant. Sometimes I think officials feed into it because it is better if the masses focus on a phantom ritual killer instead of a government official with a penchant for children.

Sounds like a curse then. A curse can go back many generations. If this is true then here is a lead that needs to be followed up on. Off to the family grave site. Take an IR camera with tripod it will be needed along with a few nights, preferable either during a new moon or full moon cycle.
