[NYTimes]

Cuomo on Sunday night outlined New York State’s mandatory quarantine policy for health care workers returning from West African nations with Ebola outbreaks , bringing the state closer into line with federal protocols and marking a significant break with the way the policy has been carried out in New Jersey

The announcement comes after the Obama administration pressed New York to revise its order, issued only two days ago in a joint press conference with New Jersey’s governor, Chris Christie. New Jersey officials, who stood by their decision on Sunday, have yet to explain many details of their quarantine policy.

The state has come under scathing criticism for the treatment of a nurse returning from Sierra Leone, who was forced into quarantine in a hastily erected tent at a New Jersey hospital even though she had not displayed any signs of illness and tested negative for Ebola.

I don't even know what to say.

I just lost any respect I had for him. I hope Christie is more resilient.

I'm not surprised that Cuomo caved. Hopefully Christie will hold his ground.

Don't worry. He feels fine.

Let's see, he says he didn't come in contact with anyone who "appeared" to have ebola symptoms. Okay.

I am tempted to kick his door in if he goes positive. Makes my blood boil, the arrogance of some people. Not even an attempt to kinda take a 2 or 3 week @ home vacation. Nope back to work monday. Some where in the world is the worst doctor(process of elimination) and someone has an appointment with him tomorrow!!!

Those quarantined at home will be visited twice a day by local authorities, he said. Family members will be allowed to stay, and friends may visit with the approval of health officials.

Wonderful.

I wonder how much Federal money is on the line in NYC to prompt this rash move.

It's not like Manhattan has a high population density or anything to warrent extra protection!

Backboneless Idiots!

Who knows what the phone calls sounded like. Wouldn't you have loved to have been a fly on that wall?

Well whiny nurse is now suing. Maybe the Ebola Czar is her lawyer for efficiency?

White House questions new Ebola rules, nurse plans to sue

(Reuters) - The White House has told states that have imposed mandatory quarantines for some travelers from Ebola-hit West Africa that the policy could impede the fight against the disease, while the first health worker isolated under the rules plans to sue.

Kaci Hickox, a nurse placed in 21-day quarantine in a New Jersey hospital after returning from treating Ebola patients in Sierra Leone, will contest her quarantine in court, her attorney said on Sunday, arguing the order violates her constitutional rights.

She has no justification to sue it will be thrown out or dismissed.

This loud mouth nurse is just trying to milk this now. I hope she gets all the attention she asks for, there are many that would like to [ use your imagination here ].

It's unlucky for Cuomo and Christie--and many other concerned Americans-- that the first HCW to be quarantined was Kaci Hickox, a nurse with a MSN and MPH, and who is all up in the CDC's business. Now that she has thrust herself into the public spotlight, it begs the question: who is nurse Kaci?

I find it interesting that her LinkedIn profile has been deleted...

Political crazy stink is all over this. Her ties to the CDC and DWB included. Hell I'm starting to think she was a plant. I'm glad they let her plug in her iPhone in that cold, scary tent and get this important word out.

There aren't many times I want to slap a bi...

She is obviously part of the game.

She gets "quarantined" after the State (not Obama) announces their new plan and then writes about the whole scorching ordeal, and then suddenly Obama Inc. is on the hunt.

And now we come to find out she is in fact connected.

Can we now even confirm with absolute certainty she was ever actually in Africa to begin with ???

Hmmm.

This is getting better by the day.

Nothing at this point would surprise me. Interestingly enough, one of the Texas Arlington articles mentioned that Kaci had initially been rejected by DWB. Wouldn't surprise me if, at the airport, Kaci pulled a Reese Witherspoon -- "Don't you know who I AM?" Just speculating, of course. Wickedly.

Ebola itself really isn't that worrisome, or shouldn't be.

When THEY start playing politics with it, you can then legitimately be worried.

The "Lawsuit" is a cover for the controlled opposition.

They must make her look like she's not part of the plan.

This whole sequence is planned.

It's a gem.

It damn sure is. I knew it from her first complaint (was it on Twitter? to her girlfriend?) Maybe I'm weird but I'd be embarrassed to make this kind of stink. The interview that really got me was when Candace someone (MSNBC?) asked her if she didn't see why people would be concerned and she said no.

The other scripted thing is the line about medical trumpng something (too tired...will look for it tomorrow) was the same from her, the CDC, and I believe the WH.

She's their mouthpiece and the victim. Cry me a river.
