“Whatever We Decide Is A Disaster For Us” France Admits Putin Is Winning, Europe “Blinked”

Despite the few on ATS who try to “Hype” up Russia’s decline & so-called isolation, don’t believe it!

“While the analogy of Vladimir Putin playing geopolitical chess (while the rest of the world plays checkers) has been a popular one, the French ambassador Gerard Araud has a different - somewhat stunningly honest  - persepctive: Putin "is more a poker player really, putting all the money on the table; saying, 'Do the same' and of course we blink. We don't do the same." As Bloomberg reports, Araud goes on to express entirely un-Juncker-like, how Putin has outmaneuvered his opponents and humiliated Ukraine. Simply put, he adds, the Russian president "has won because we were not ready to die for Ukraine, while apparently he was," leaving the ominous question, "when is Putin going to stop? Whatever we decide is a disaster for us."

The whole entire article is quotable.

“The question is there on the table: When is Putin going to stop?” Araud said.

Indeed.

What will it take for the west to take the military action which Putin has no qualms about taking?

Who said anything about a war with Russia?
It was a Ukraine revolution, not a Russian invasion. Remember?

Putin is still trying to get the headlines...........No one cares anymore. Seriously no one cares. Putin should have a grand birthday party or start a reality TV show.

Europe is hurting simply because it still follows orders from Washington.
The sanctions don't hurt America, but hurt European trade a huge amount. The simple solution, therefore, is for the European leaders to tell Washington to go jump in a lake!

Of course, that would need leaders with a spine, not the banker selected yes men we currently get to choose from each election cycle.

We don't to take any military action against Russia, with whom we were trading and getting along with fine until the US planned and executed Ukraine farce happened. Then all of a sudden the media is hyping the anti-Russia stuff at every opportunity. Yep, the same corporate media that lied us into all the other wars is at it again, and people still use what they say as "proof" of Russian aggression and expansionist plans to invade the whole continent!

A new president to start with.
Obama's scared of ISIS
He's pretending Russia doesn't even exist.

He is an important man leading a regional power......That being said he cares more for himself than the people he leads. I think he could be great leader if he could fix that.

I am willing to bet he has a hand painted picture of himself wrestling a bear hanging above his bed.

As usual, you have had to twist, alter and censor your source to make it say what you wished it said. Ambassador Araud does not "admit" anything. Your putting words into his mouth is little better than a lie. The specific issue he was touching on was the sale of French military equipment to Russia:

Asked about the delivery of two French Mistral-class helicopter-carrying assault ships sold to Moscow, a 1.2 billion euro ($1.6 billion) deal signed in 2011, Araud conceded there are no good options for his government. The first ship was to be delivered this month, but the French government put the deal on hold Sept. 3 over Russia’s armed incursions in Ukraine.

“Whatever we decide is a disaster for us,” Araud said, again expressing his personal view. On one side, he said, lies France’s credibility as an arms supplier who delivers on contracts, and on the other, the difficulty of delivering a weapons system to Putin, who might use it against Ukraine or a European ally.

Your own source. [Emphasis mine --DJW001]

What's more, you need to learn to understand political rhetoric. Araud is essentially chiding his own government and its NATO partners for not taking a stronger stand against Putin's aggression. Make no mistake, he accuses Russia of arming and supporting the rebels contrary to Putin's claims otherwise. Araud is not surrendering, he is inciting action.

Come on these pro-Russia posters never ever twist or spin the facts......cough......cough. I think I hit the nail on the head when said Putin should do reality TV. He could wrestle bears and round up gay people for arrest. It would be good TV and boost his ratings in Russia.

Europe's problem is that they are based on debt, and the whole economy is based on paying Danegeld to Wall Street in the form of loans and interest payments. They have to keep borrowing and rapidly increasing their populations in order to keep getting money to keep the social security systems going.

They also need to maintain exports to keep their economies going, but since the Americans tell them to impose sanctions they have to do that, reducing exports in order to keep getting money to borrow.

On top of that, there is the Europe wealth redistribution system in the form of fees which are upgraded according to how each country is doing. But that always seems to be fudged each year to make Britain pay the most.
