“While the analogy of Vladimir Putin playing geopolitical chess (while the rest of the world plays checkers) has been a popular one, the French ambassador Gerard Araud has a different - somewhat stunningly honest - persepctive: Putin "is more a poker player really, putting all the money on the table; saying, 'Do the same' and of course we blink. We don't do the same." As Bloomberg reports, Araud goes on to express entirely un-Juncker-like, how Putin has outmaneuvered his opponents and humiliated Ukraine. Simply put, he adds, the Russian president "has won because we were not ready to die for Ukraine, while apparently he was," leaving the ominous question, "when is Putin going to stop? Whatever we decide is a disaster for us."
“The question is there on the table: When is Putin going to stop?” Araud said.

Indeed.
What will it take for the west to take the military action which Putin has no qualms about taking?

I am willing to bet he has a hand painted picture of himself wrestling a bear hanging above his bed.

Asked about the delivery of two French Mistral-class helicopter-carrying assault ships sold to Moscow, a 1.2 billion euro ($1.6 billion) deal signed in 2011, Araud conceded there are no good options for his government. The first ship was to be delivered this month, but the French government put the deal on hold Sept. 3 over Russia’s armed incursions in Ukraine.
“Whatever we decide is a disaster for us,” Araud said, again expressing his personal view. On one side, he said, lies France’s credibility as an arms supplier who delivers on contracts, and on the other, the difficulty of delivering a weapons system to Putin, who might use it against Ukraine or a European ally.

Europe is hurting simply because it still follows orders from Washington.
The sanctions don't hurt America, but hurt European trade a huge amount. The simple solution, therefore, is for the European leaders to tell Washington to go jump in a lake!
Of course, that would need leaders with a spine, not the banker selected yes men we currently get to choose from each election cycle.
We don't to take any military action against Russia, with whom we were trading and getting along with fine until the US planned and executed Ukraine farce happened. Then all of a sudden the media is hyping the anti-Russia stuff at every opportunity. Yep, the same corporate media that lied us into all the other wars is at it again, and people still use what they say as "proof" of Russian aggression and expansionist plans to invade the whole continent!
