Interesting read. According to the report there are no less than 4,000 confidential informant's on the DEA's payroll. Given the lack of accountability and the way the funds are dispersed we may never know what the real number is. This is just a public report, what I have seen suggests that number is much higher. It is not just the DEA who employs and pays confidential informants(CIs), however it appears their use of CIs is much higher than any other agency and often with little if any accountability.


This is just one alphabet agency, but this is proof that we live in a society that has been encouraged to spy on each other for the better part of a generation, largely due to the War on Drugs.

It would be interesting to see what the entire 162 page report would say, if it were to be released. That confidential report has much more detailed information, I'm sure.
