Today, on Next Level BS, we look at how states in the US are systematically passing hardened laws to prevent the sale of Tesla Motors vehicles in their states. The most recent, from Michigan, was done in the most insidious way -- yeah, that's right; the birthplace of the american car has banned the sale of an american car. We take a close look at the tactics being used by the National Auto Dealers Association and their state counterparts, to collude with state governments to lock out Tesla. It's nothing short of Government-Sponsored support of a Monopoly -- no surprise there. This is also the last episode of our first season. We'll be back on election day, November 4th, 2014, with lots of new BS.

Only to get their new batter factory locked in for the state. Until they were in the running for that, Nevada politicians were under the same pressures to ban Tesla sales.

Looks like corporatism is alive and well !!

With no end in sight.

Hmmm.

Gotta wonder if there is an "international" angle to this?

Oil/Gasoline

From what I read when the auto industry first started they sold both gas driven cars and electric depending on the company that produced it. Edison was getting ready to open a factory mass producing electric cars and it burned down days before and that effectively halted the electric cars future. Imagine the innovation and technology we would have with electric vehicles if we had a 100 year history producing them.

The governments role in society is to cater to the old money and to destroy innovation, and competition from new business, this is a great example and family farm destruction is another great example. The clothing your wearing is another example, cotton take petro chemicals and a ton of water to grow, where hemp takes a farmer planting a seed and then returning to harvest, our clothes should be made from hemp and not cotton.

Has your internet become cheaper, remember the bills turned to law based on consumer protection, that gave the net companies the right to limit your internet usage for profit?

Its all a rigged game till some one comes along with innovation, then the industry and government will move against you.

Musk has billions. Why doesn't he just buy an hour of network prime time TV to showcase his car, and present his case that his invention/car company is being stifled by "The Man"?

It's what I would do if I had more money than I knew what to do with. Rich people...SMH...

Whats going on with Tesla is whats wrong with America.

As a farmer you can raise meat rabbits with little or no government regulation because there isn't a huge rabbit industry with lobbyists. Industry and lobbyists are the main source of government regulation. This is almost across the board with American industry. Michigan is attacking the family pig farmers as well, if your raising pigs that are not a confinement operation the Department of Natural Resources are declaring family raised hogs as feral and you are not allowed to sell them to the public, and they must be destroyed all on behalf of the hog industry.

This Tesla and the hog farmers in Michigan are clear examples of industry working with government to limit innovation and competition at the behalf of big business, this is what is wrong with America. This isn't capitalism at all. I agree its corporatism.

I gotta be honest, I kept seeing the NLBS as the lead story on the ATS homepage, and chalked it up to some crappy advertising co-op deal. I figured the site owners partnered with NLBS to plug some video that would be terrible in production and talk about reptilians in our schools or something. So from day one, I never gave it a chance.

BUT....today, I figured...what the hell, why not.

Great job Joe!! I am thoroughly impressed with the information you presented on Tesla and what's going on with it. I was wrong, NLBS was informative, creative, professional and down to earth. I'll be sure to catch up on the rest of your episodes as I can.

This was another well presented POV. I think you're ready to start making money with this effort. Not sure there's a market for it ... and that's a crying shame ... but, I like what I see.

I feel Tesla at the moment is at that stage similar to what Apple was. There was a time when Apple products were a poor second cousin to PC's, laugh worthy. But slowly they focused on creating a sexy product, an item that you want to touch or work with. The tech was always a bit behind, but the power of good designers shows how important it is. Apple stuff is still old tech, but they are a global behemoth now.

Tesla though while struggling with regulations, has also brought a very sexy product to market. It's exciting to look at inside and out. The Model S is a beautiful - desirable car. And with a hunger for it, wise investors with clout get in at the ground floor. It's those guys who will be in positions to lobby and change laws and rules to get Tesla's out there. Might take a while, the petrol dollar is a mammoth to take on, but believe me Tesla is a company growing very fast with an outstanding product that can only improve. For instance, take a look at THESE TESLA JOBS if your after a new career! 1658 jobs going of all kinds worldwide. I think is the US is going to keep putting down roadblocks, tesla will work around it because they have a product the market wants.

Why would you focus on Tesla when its industry and government that is impeding on both innovation and the basics of capitalism?

Because Tesla is the focus of this thread (I think).

Look at all angles.

This is a test of big money against big money in the auto industry.

And maybe Tesla can still open dealerships in those affected States?

Not sure on the exact law restrictions.

Does anybody know?

Can I ask a silly question?

On that stockholders list it shows Elon only having 75 shares whereas the people below have 10's of thousands of them. I don't have shares so not sure how it all works.

Thanks
