A Moscow based Ad Agency, Sarafan Advertising Agency, recently pulled quite a hilarious, albeit unconventional, marketing stunt by displaying a slightly concealed image of a topless woman on the sides of box trucks. The image shows a woman’s breasts with copy that, when translated, reads in English as “they attract.”
The Sarafan ad campaign caused 571 car accidents as distracted drivers collided with other vehicles, landmarks, and buildings. 30 trucks total had been driving around the Russian Capital of Moscow before police quickly impounded them.
Their intention was to evaluate how much attention people pay to the sides of these trucks and encourage more people to give this kind of advertising a shot.
This has led to multiple complaints, and many plan to sue the ad agency for compensation. A spokesman for the Sarafan Advertising Agency that organized the promotion said, “In all cases of accidents, the car owners will receive compensation costs from us that aren’t covered by their insurance.
