That's interesting, and disappointing. Nice that you found this thread though!

There's another idea that I have been pondering for a while that for some reason feels quite connected to this story. And that is the similarity between psychedelic drugs and written language. The former are molecules that enter your perception through the gateway of chosen mode of administration, the latter are beams of light which reflect on ink on paper and then enter your perception through the gateway of your eyes. Other than that the similarities are many. I have earlier described how I see a similarity between 9/11 and what avant-garde art can do. This is probably the reason I think about this in this context. An iPad to a hunter gatherer is not that different from 9/11, avant-garde art or psychedelic drugs. Satan was Lucifer, the light bearer, wasn't he? Fine line between madness and genius they say.

A gramophone record, the musical idea, the written notes, and the sound-waves, all stand to one another in the same internal relation of depicting that holds between language and the world.
Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus by Ludwig Wittgenstein

I'm not sure it's correct to say that the molecule enters your perception, or that the light enters your perception. But the point is the same. Just like in the Wittgenstein quote, one form of information morphs into another. Just like my thoughts are right now making my fingers tap on my keyboard, sending electric signals all across the globe in a second, that travel through your wall and into your computer, morphing into pixels on the screen, travelling as light through the air and entering your eyes, and from there onward to your perception. The tower of Babel comes to mind. We were spread out and then we flocked together, from a singularity to a multitude of expressions of creation and back, closing the circle.

My thoughts:

- it is entirely likely that the day to day life of living on the sliver of subsistence would make a culture so concrete as to not entirely understand any device. Consider Captain Cooks stories of the Australian aborigines. The abstract of an unknown didn't phase them, in contradiction to just about every other civilization on Earth. Instead, they only dismissed their indifference when the abstract become concrete: people from the big boat rowed ashore and were perceived as a threat

- Spritualism is part and parcel to the human existence. Religion is not. "The devil" is a religious construct, not a spritual one. And likely to not be part of the realm of the aboriginal human

- To really understand what he/she is seeing, a context will first need to be acquired. Otherwise, the sensory overload and trying to understand so many new concepts at once may create a sense of indifference.

That's why i said these little gadgets don't fool them.

Many of these societies are having to come in contact with guides who get messages from the local tribes to send back to the governments. In order to prevent deforestation.

Poachers in the area looking for a quick buck as well as other illegal activities, Drug trafficers you name it.

What was once an untouched world is becoming more seemlessly touched because we can claime that these tribes have no knowledge of the outside world, When their children are running around in T-Shirts.

it's not safe to travel in such areas without a local guide because of all the threats to these people making yourself a target if you are not escorted.

remeber that picture of the tribesmen pointing arrows at a plane. It wasn't the first time they saw a plane and they know what is inside it. They don't want us on their land because they know what will happen from stories passed on from nabouring tribes who have suffered. Word gets around fast...

He said that one of the indigenous people died of a shock as a result.

Three days later the rest were taking selfies and posting them on Facebook.

Some astute writing went into that story line.

A coke bottle ruins an entire villages sanctity.

Thats why the "Gods" don't generally intervene.

Imo, they see no reason to disclose their presence at this time.

It would upset everything, just like that coke bottle.

Haha, some funny replies.

To those of you who commented on the use of the word Satan; I meant Satan as that which the word is meant to symbolize. To quote Secret Teachings of All Ages by Manly P Hall:

In order to make simple the great truths of Nature and the abstract principles of natural law, the vital forces of the universe were personified, becoming the gods and goddesses of the ancient mythologies. While the ignorant multitudes brought their offerings to the altars of Priapus and Pan (deities representing the procreative energies), the wise recognized in these marble statues only symbolic concretions of great abstract truths.

Following a bit down the off topic path, that is seriously the best investment of time I have made in the last 20 years, when I read that book 10 years ago.

For folks whose head tends to spin around esoteric discussions, read The Secret Teachings Of All Ages to get a healthy dose of Esoterica 101

Back towrds the topic: when I saw "Satan" i naturally didn't assume the esoteric meaning. I recall our past discussions now, and get where you are coming from in that regard. Its just not often that you see someone use Christian terms in esoteric ways.

Good to see you introspectionist again. Still thinking people shouldn't try to change the World?

I don't know anything. I'm just a seeker. I don't remember exactly what I said that you read. But I think that perhaps different ideologies apply to different people, and different parts of humanity. Maybe some people are meant to be doers and some are meant to walk through life as if in a glass bubble. Maybe it's an evolutionary thing, maybe some stand on the shoulders of others. I don't know. It is interesting to look at how extrovert vs introvert different parts of humanity are and compare it to the level of evolution they might be at or appear to be at. And something like emotional intelligence and autism.

If "the world" includes your own thoughts and actions, then another interesting aspect of this discussion comes up. In mindfulness meditation you are observing without judgment. And this is a form of "not trying to change". I have read that the goal of mindfulness meditation, perhaps among other goals, is to reach a meditative state that is permanent, that doesn't go away when you end the session. And that practice of walking meditation serves to ease the attainment of that, ease the transition from a sitting session into all of your normal life. In that state, a meditative state that is permanent, you are perhaps in what can be called "not trying to change the world" including your own thoughts and actions, and here is what I'm getting at, those actions might possibly include changing the world. Just a thought. But I think that in general you are probably more free if you don't have a lot of interconnectedness with your outer world. But as I said, maybe different ideologies apply to different parts of humanity. As I said, I don't know anything.

Hi introspectionist , I read a thread a year ago I guess by you saying content not changing the world and living your normal life. I tried to help and encourage you if you seemed to be depressed. I am saying I was part of top secret revelations party or something. I used to be involved with the government and that's how I found this site. Music is open to interpretation and could mean many things. I write about it in my own threads.

I just got Lateralus and 10,000 days from my room. The two follow up albums by Tool. Lateralus is see through, I remember the Grudge, let this go the grudge. 10,000 days is almost thirty years what Jesus would have walked on the Earth before starting his new religion. 300 times 30 = 10,000 Has songs Vicarious , you watch while the whole world dies or something . Lyrics from memory. Lost Keys blame Hoffman , and Rosetta Stoned are tracks. I forget some of the lyrics of album. Haven't listened to in years. They are all illuminati , you know. Musicians.

I thought a bit more about what you asked:

Still thinking people shouldn't try to change the World?

Or actually I think about that quite a lot.

To me it seems like it might perhaps be as I said, that different ideologies or truths apply to different parts of humanity/different people. However, when it comes to truth seeking, I feel fairly convinced that you cannot simultaneously be extrovert, decisive, and make a difference AND be humble, open-minded, question everything, a real truth seeker. The moment you take a stand, and the moment you act, you are no longer open to all possibilities. The moment you try to make a change you have gone from being open-minded to being presumptuous. Presumptuous is a negative word, but the way I see it there is really a very fine line, if any line at all, between presumptuousness and those things I mentioned; taking a stand, acting, being decisive, trying to change things. I have been thinking a lot about this actually and how it relates to Muslims and Jews, to dogma vs truth seeking, arrogance vs humility, conformity vs nonconformity, emotional intelligence, ego and other things.

In this life, there are three kinds of men, just as there are three sorts of people who come to the Olympic Games. The lowest class is made up of those who come to buy and sell, the next above them are those who compete. Best of all, however, are those who come simply to look on. The greatest purification of all is, therefore, disinterested science, and it is the man who devotes himself to that, the true philosopher, who has most effectually released himself from the 'wheel of birth.'
