FEMA Pandemic Excersises Region ll

I just came across this info and thought l would share it with everyone. The second lnk provides information that summarizes or gives a brief detail of who is involved along with schedules and locations of upcoming events.

Also included is a webinar video ( voice recording) that gives greater detail of the plans surrounding the events.

The first webinar above is from September 23rd, l haven't listened to the whole thing so summarizing it would be difficult.

The Federal Executive Boards in New York City and Northern New Jersey in partnership with FEMA Region II, The Department of Health and Human Services Region II, NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) and the Clearing House Association are sponsoring a two year series of pandemic influenza continuity exercises - tabletop exercise 2013 (complete), full scale exercise 2014 -  to increase readiness for a pandemic event amongst Federal Executive Departments and Agencies, US Court, State, tribal, local jurisdictional and private sector continuity

This isn't surprising. In fact, I'm rather glad FEMA is preparing for the possibility of a pandemic. Talk of FEMA camps and mass graves aside, I think FEMA learned it's probably better to be prepared after it got crucified in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

Indeed very interesting... We have seen "exercises" in the past become reality on the same Dates..i.e London tunnel bombings...Gotta wonder what if? Terror drills gone live

Howdy...Nice to hear how things will be responded too in case of a pandemic. Sounds like the professionals have it under wraps.

We do this SOOOOO much...over and over and over. Haz Mat dress up, mass casualty, weapons of mass destruction events, disaster response...you name it, we train for it until it becomes 2nd nature.

What really bothers me is some of the same people Im going to help in a crisis....keep thinking the worse or theres some secret or event (EBOLA-God they are hiding something they know and we dont!)...that we got going every time...EVERY TIME...its annouced by someone sitting in their bedroom at a computer and read about what we do.... ALL THE TIME.

Seriously friend...its disheartening for us.

N.Y. official: Ebola policy 'a real stunner

That's interesting. Why would someone declare a qauratine, not contact federal and especially your local authorities you were doing so?

It would almost appear as if the governor's had everything planned beforehand. If the local and state officials have not been told they were involved in the plans. Whose going to help in coordinating and setting up an effective collaboration.

It's quite timely to see a full scale exercise taking place shortly in just this locale. It would seem as if the calvary is on the way.

The policy of isolating medical personnel and others arriving from Ebola-affected countries zones was abruptly implemented Friday by the governors of New York and New Jersey, Andrew Cuomo and Chris Christie. The announcement came one day after a New York doctor who treated patients in Guinea became the first Ebola case diagnosed in the city and the fourth in the United States.
