You've got it backwards - ATS mods have FEMA camp reservations - and the funny part is we didn't even ask for them!

The email isn't telling you not to say thanks. It's telling you that if you reply it'll go to a do-not-reply type mailbox and not to the mod.

Just reply to the applause email and then fill in the mods user name over the To: part, say thanks, hit the button.

Ah! This is nice to know!

From now on I'll ignore the "Do Not Reply" message and thank the mod for the Applause.

For now: Thanks for all the Applause that I have received from the mods during my time here at ATS!

Welllll... there is a mod who often rides in here on a horse named Svaðilfari, but I've never asked them where they really come from.

It's because of the ATS secret society. As you know, we're not allowed to talk about that. But just between you and me, that mod's applauses glow in the dark.

And don't worry, I've set up this post with a special code so that only the Initiated can read it...

Oh dear..careful now. You've been giving away lots of secrets lately!

It's never a waste of time or a bother to send a member of staff a personal "thank you" or any other form of compliment. It is very much appreciated (and encouraged).

There's also the Complaint/Suggestion form in the drop-down menu at the top of the page that can be used for that purpose as well where all staff can read or be recipients of the compliment (or suggestion).

Thank you to everyone for the "thank you's" and compliments. It makes the day even brighter.

So I could have said thank you instead of feeling totally guilty about 'ignoring' a message??

Well, thank you Kandinsky and _BoneZ_ , from the bottom of my heart!!

Right back at you!

I didn't say thanks, and I should have. Somehow I was intimidated by the auto message telling me not to reply, and because I value my ability to post here, I try not to get in trouble, despite what my history may seem like. I should have known better. Thanks for the thread, letting us finally say, "Thank you, for the recognition."

OP, thanks for bringing this up and breaking the ice. Like many others, the "do not reply" phrasing in the message led me to believe that a personal response would, so to speak, clog up the pipes.

I'm sure the great community of Mods around here are quite busy, and I simply didn't want to get in the way of more pressing matters.

Also, good to know that the "Report" button is not only for negativity! I'll start trying to utilize this more.

Thanks Kosmic!

Well, then I guess "Thanks!" is due!! I also thought that the "Do Not Respond" could mean "Do Not Bother"......

So, Thank you!

I was also under the impression that it was bad form to reply to an applause.

I would like to take this opportunity to express appreciation for the applauses I have received. I would like to thank ATS and especially the mods for making it all possible. I would like to thank my mother and my father and all the members here for giving me the strength and the courage to press forward. Without the mods and everyone here, I would not have achieved such a great distinction.

Thank you, everyone. Thank you. Thank you.

Well, you learn something new everyday, if you're open to it. Thanks for starting this thread, OP. And mucho thanks to every staff member, and the proprietors for taking the time to give that extra bit of recognition to myself, and my fellow members.

I do hope the staff applaud one another occasionally. It would be a bummer to think it all stops the moment you take up the mod mantle.

The way I see it... mods applauding you are their way of saying thank you for good quality posts... like YAK said... contributing to ATS with good information and good quality comments and posts.

Again the way I see it... applauding is showing you that they thank you for good show.

It goes both way actually. Let's thank each other!

Mods thank you for keeping this site a good place to discuss and debate and to keep it clean.

You can absolutely message the staffer who applauded you to say "Thanks" - automessage be damned! Point of fact, it gives me a good feeling when members do so.

Here's to hoping I don't end up getting black bagged for rebelling against the automessage.

Ohhh..I didn't know that, thanks for the info....bugger! I've thousands of replies to do now.

As many others have said here, I was under the impression that "do not respond" meant just that....meh, oh well.

I'll add my thanks for applause here as well. Thank you, all mods that have given me applause during my time here.

And thank you for doing the generally thankless job that you do, keeping this site in top form and FAR beyond any other boards out there. This place is in a league of its own, most certainly.

(I'll figure out a few more of this emoticons one of these days and be able to post one of those cool little clapping smiley guys.

I am confused now , Do not respond means send a thank you to the mod .

So a warning message means just ignore and carry on the craziness then , now i am really really confused

Very well said.

I've been surprised a handful of times to see an "applause" message in my in box, just to be foiled by the "do not reply" business.

So mods, please accept my heartfelt and extremely belated, "Thank you!"

Don't get all sideways now! The "do not reply to this message" is there because if you did reply it would not go to the moderator who gave you the applause. The message comes from a different subsytem of the ATS messaging software.

I thought I was supposed to obey the rules...
if the notification -of-award stated that No Reply, no action in response was the policy...
I did not want to clutter up the private message function or the Mods in-box

~

applause received: 70
~
I enclose 70 belated TYs for the past recognitions from Mods

Well geez... Now I feel like a schmuck for following orders by 'not responding'.
