I have to agree! My sister used to give me some when she used to smoke, and i found it made me more sociable and less shy. Plus, it also lifts my mood as i suffer from PTSD and depression.

you see they have pills for the side effects of the previous pills...

and pills to counter the side effects from the pills that helped the side effects of the first prescription...

and so on... and so on...

Bottom line... Pills make drug companies money... Plants don't...

Yes CBD instead of THC. CBD is found in the resin like the THC and is whats primarily responsible for the medicative effects. Reduction of inflammation, tumor suppression, anaglysic, anti depressant. It's found in small quanities in most strains of cannabis. But it's what does the work. However, there are strains like Omarita that haqve very little THC and lots of CBD. IT does not make you feel "high" and it does wonders therapeutically. Also there is a product called Phoenix Tears that is CBD oil. It can be ingested or inhaled and it will work either way. I stand by the effects of CBD as being therapeutic.

When you have mary jane in your system and come into a loss of life situations it allows your spirit to choose if it wants to live or die. I like choices.

Not being one to brag....

My lover tells me my sexual prowess is the stuff legends are made of with just the right combination of MJ and tequila.

I saw this article from the American Lung Association this week and actually thought about starting a thread on it.

Like tobacco smoke, marijuana smoke contains cancer-causing chemicals. There are 33 cancer-causing chemicals contained in marijuana. Marijuana smoke also deposits tar into the lungs. In fact, when equal amounts of marijuana and tobacco are smoked, marijuana deposits four times as much tar into the lungs. This is because marijuana joints are un-filtered and often more deeply inhaled than cigarettes.

I'm 35 and not a wrinkle on my face.

Just say'in...

Haha i often feel crazy for thinking like that but id say it applies to me too.

26 and i have to grow a beard or people still mistake me for an underaged boy. The long hair and feminine features probably dont help either :p i do hope it stays like this though! I used to be overweight and was starting to lose hair, yet now its fine and my weight has gone to perfectly average, despite the munchies, which i no longer get that much as a seasoned stoner.

Wonder herb for sure! Though i do think finding the right strains is key! Sad as i dont have a choice in that due to illegality, a crime really!

I've not smoked anything since last weekend. I feel healthier, more energetic but I've never been so miserable.
I've come to realise that MJ was responsible for keeping my screaming tinnitus at a tolerable level and I simply can't get to sleep until like 7AM so it's not as if I'm getting out of bed any earlier.

I don't see any point taking up regular smoking again - so horrendously over-priced but I dearly miss my little stoner
bubble. Without MJ I feel more like a 'normal' person but the world is such a nasty place I can only really find any happiness in my stoner bubble. As long as I've some tasty snacks and something to get lost in - I couldn't be happier.

I have nothing to look forward to. I can have a really bad shift or a really bad day but if I know there's a little spliff waiting for me at home, then I can deal with anything no problem.

What I've learned is I can do without MJ, but I'll be miserable, grumpy and no better off.

As an herb, it can easily be an ingredient in baked good or other foods that warm enough to draw out the medicinal properties. Kinda shoots the smoking angle...

It is definitely helpful in regards to withdrawal from other medications/drugs. I have said this on the board before and I was put on Effexor by a doctor whom talked to me for less than 5 minutes and I was on it for 3 months, and not even a half dose, and it took me 6 months to wean off it, at least one solid month I was basically bed bound and could barely move. I was suicidal (one of the biggest side effects) but Marijuana usage had me eating, and I was able to move around with much less of the 'head shocks' that you get when coming off anti-depressants.

I think you are missing something key here. Marijuana smoke is NOT created equal with cigarette smoke. And you DO NOT have to smoke it. You can eat it quite easily. And there are now "E Cigs" for marijuana.

Marijuana Cuts Lung Cancer Tumor Growth In Half, Study Shows
April 17th, 2007
American Association for Cancer Research

The active ingredient in marijuana cuts tumor growth in common lung cancer in half and significantly reduces the ability of the cancer to spread, say researchers at Harvard University who tested the chemical in both lab and mouse studies.

The active ingredient in marijuana cuts tumor growth in common lung cancer in half and significantly reduces the ability of the cancer to spread, say researchers at Harvard University who tested the chemical in both lab and mouse studies.
They say this is the first set of experiments to show that the compound, Delta-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), inhibits EGF-induced growth and migration in epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) expressing non-small cell lung cancer cell lines. Lung cancers that over-express EGFR are usually highly aggressive and resistant to chemotherapy.

Then, for three weeks, researchers injected standard doses of THC into mice that had been implanted with human lung cancer cells, and found that tumors were reduced in size and weight by about 50 percent in treated animals compared to a control group. There was also about a 60 percent reduction in cancer lesions on the lungs in these mice as well as a significant reduction in protein markers associated with cancer progression, Preet says.
Although the researchers do not know why THC inhibits tumor growth, they say the substance could be activating molecules that arrest the cell cycle. They speculate that THC may also interfere with angiogenesis and vascularization, which promotes cancer growth.

AS a side note. I was insanely depressed. I was so depressed I had to get happier to be suicidal. Well that's when I found maryjane. Saved my life. Made me interested in life. Made me find myself.
For the last 4 years I have been an alcoholic and couldn't stop drinking. In the same time I havn't really had access to maryjane for various reasons. I don't have any money now so still don't.

Guess what? I'd like to smoke but it's no big deal. Alcohol however? I've almost died twice trying to quit. Finally now I havn't had a drink in months. I know that if I had money I would buy more because it's just right there at the store.

Imagine however that it was marijuana at the store and not alcohol. Imagine if the plant that saved my life and never addicted me was right there instead of that dick alcohol who tried to have me killed??

And last but not least.

"It will make a Sane man stronger, and a crazy man sane. Know what I'm talking about? ...Maryjane."

I ONCE was on 7 Rx meds that dealt with a cancer, hypertension, PTSD, cholesterol, pain and Ambien™ to rob Me of my dreams.. I broke My back fighting 'The War on Drugs' during a search warrant at a meth lab. In 2003 I was given 12-18 months to Live, so I moved 3,000 miles away from family and friends. I ALMOST said "screw it"...

Today, 10+ years after I was supposed to be dead, I'm on a lower dose of pain meds than when I started and those are the only 2 meds I take. My cancer at the top of My lungs is gone (7+ yrs. meth labs prior to OSHA™..) My skin cancer never fully ripened, blood pressure is 101/70, cholesterol is 153, as "SANE" as the next guy..

BigPHarma™ doesn't want You growing Your own meds and there is a "strain for every pain"

Oddly, when I was on the 7 Rx. meds My Health Insurance was covered by My former police dep't. and when I stopped taking the meds. I was saving $1300/month on co-pays and meds. Now My retirement check is lighter $1207/month for "Health Insurance" so I figure I'm still "saving" $93.00 a month...

I'm ALL for it...

Or why not look at BRAIN DAMAGE?

The Journal of Neuroscience

Neuroprotection by Δ9-Tetrahydrocannabinol, the Main Active Compound in Marijuana, against Ouabain-Induced In Vivo Excitotoxicity

the main active compound in marijuana, reduces neuronal injury in neonatal rats injected intracerebrally with the Na+/K+-ATPase inhibitor ouabain to elicit excitotoxicity. In the acute phase Δ9-THC reduced the volume of cytotoxic edema by 22%. After 7 d, 36% less neuronal damage was observed in treated rats compared with control animals.

That's basically a study where they toxified rat brains and then gave them injections of placebo or injections of THC. THC helped cause much less damage to the brain. 1/3 less brain damage!

You can read the full study there.

Breast Cancer?
Let's See www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov...

National Center for Biotechnology Information . National Library of Medicine . National Institute of Health . Gov

We previously reported that cannabidiol (CBD), a cannabinoid with a low toxicity profile, down-regulated Id-1 gene expression in aggressive human breast cancer cells in culture. Using cell proliferation and invasion assays, cell flow cytometry to examine cell cycle and the formation of reactive oxygen species, and Western analysis, we determined pathways leading to the down-regulation of Id-1 expression by CBD and consequently to the inhibition of the proliferative and invasive phenotype of human breast cancer cells.

Then, using the mouse 4T1 mammary tumor cell line and the ranksum test, two different syngeneic models of tumor metastasis to the lungs were chosen to determine whether treatment with CBD would reduce metastasis in vivo. We show that CBD inhibits human breast cancer cell proliferation and invasion through differential modulation of the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) and reactive oxygen species (ROS) pathways, and that both pathways lead to down-regulation of Id-1 expression.

Moreover, we demonstrate that CBD up-regulates the pro-differentiation factor, Id-2. Using immune competent mice, we then show that treatment with CBD significantly reduces primary tumor mass as well as the size and number of lung metastatic foci in two models of metastasis.

Our data demonstrate the efficacy of CBD in pre-clinical models of breast cancer. The results have the potential to lead to the development of novel non-toxic compounds for the treatment of breast cancer metastasis, and the information gained from these experiments broaden our knowledge of both Id-1 and cannabinoid biology as it pertains to cancer progression.

Of course not, the MSM is too busy compiling a 20 year report of all sorts of studies to try to paint marijuana in as bad a light as possible, and still failing to do that since the articles that talk about the report are CLEARLY sensationalized.

I think it cures Ebola, instead of medcare I suggest ya'all try that.

Cannabis is the best plant ever. How it is grouped with coc aine and heroin should set off red flags to any critical thinker with minimal exposure to it.
