Supreme Court declines to review same-sex marriage cases

The Supreme Court on Monday decided not to review rulings that cleared the way for same-sex marriage in Virginia, Utah, Oklahoma, Indiana and Wisconsin, a surprising move that shows the court is comfortable with the expansion of such unions throughout the nation. The court’s decision came without explanation and puts off a ruling about the constitutionality of gay marriage that would apply to all 50 states. But it sent a clear signal that a majority of the court did not feel the need to overturn lower court decisions that found state prohibitions were unconstitutional. Marriages that had been on hold in the five states that were before the court began taking place a few hours later.

Why does it bother other people that people of the same sex want to marry? There are people that claim it's because of their religion but really it is because of their own bigotry. The religious people in this nation needs to learn that everyone in this country doesn't want to live by their religion so stop trying to force them to live by it. There is no logical reason for same sex marriage to be banned anywhere in this nation.

They do it because they have nothing better to do.

I'll just say it this way. In the Bible, which they claim they follow, it says not to judge. It also says that you will be forgiven AS YOU FORGIVE OTHERS.

In other words... how you treat people and act towards them? That's how God will treat you, as well. It's your choice of whether you are going to bash someone for their life choices, but if you have made bad choices, as well? Prepare to get treated by God in the same way you treated that other person.

Seriously. Study your sacred text, people. Says it right there. The Lord's Prayer. Forgive us our trespasses AS WE FORGIVE those that trespass against us.

You a Christian? You mistreat gays? Be prepared to be treated the exact same way by God.

Earlier this year my next door neighbours got married. They are a same sex couple (Carol and Michelle) and a finer pair of people you could not wish to meet. Michelle is also my drinking buddy and we share a love of real ale that has given us some joyous Friday nights. as far as I know the only people at the wedding there who were gay were the bride and bride, not that anyone was wearing badges. In fact it was no different from any other wedding I've been to, except nobody got into a fight.

How sad that some, here in the UK as well as in the "Land of the Free" (lol) want to curtail some people's freedom to be a loving caring couple, bound for life in the way that anyone else can. They must be so lucky that they can't find anything important to fret about.

edit on 6-10-2014 by waynos because: (no reason given)
