AC/DC rhythm guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is suffering from dementia, according to reports.

The band confirmed to People that Young has dementia, and the Sydney Morning Herald reported that the 61-year-old is living in a local care facility.

Sad to hear that, but it seems AC/DC wont die just yet

Steve Young, a nephew, played on the album and is expected to join AC/DC when they tour to support the new album.

According to a family friend, the guitarist could no longer remember how to play AC/DC songs.

"If you were in the room with [Young] and walked out, then came back in one minute later, he wouldn't remember who you are. He has a complete loss of short-term memory," the unnamed source said.

OH man so sad, this is not the stuff of jokes, no matter if you a rich or poor, a slob or a genius this can happen to anyone
.

My grandparent worked most of his life for a man that owned a small insurance company, the man was so active, he did all you could imagine in life, regularly flight his own plane from the Caribbean to US, always full of jokes and energy until some day he was like this, a hollow shell of his former self.

What sad news....let's hope Angus doesn't go too.

I'd say more, but AC/DC kind of sold out in my opinion...either with Family Jewels or Black Ice

Certainly one of the strangest fates to befall a world-famous rock guitarist.
