File this under the proper use of firearms:

On Tuesday, at approximately 4 AM, 25-year-old Leonard Demon Henry allegedly broke into the Oklahoma City mobile home of his ex-fiance Brandy Moreno and began stabbing her. The Oklahoman is reporting that Moreno’s 11-year-old daughter obtained her mother’s pistol and opened fire on Henry, shooting him twice and causing him to flee. According to KTUL, both Moreno and Henry are expected to recover from their injuries. Police are calling the shooting justified and are not expected to file charges against the victim’s daughter.

I am happy to hear that charges won't be filed in this case and that the family seems to be doing well in spite of the incident.

The dude needs to fry, after a fair trial of course:

The Victim Protective Order, filed on September 18, notes that Henry’s own mother allegedly told Moreno that she had seen Henry molesting one of his children. The documents also contained allegations that Henry had taken photographs of one of his female children’s private parts and threatened her with a gun in an effort to terrify her into keeping the abusive activities a secret.

I checked new topics and recent postings and did not see this in either place, trash as necessary.

Wow... the 2nd amendment folks needed a win really really bad. I'm glad she and her mother are alright.

I imagine that little girl's face will be on t-shirts hanging on racks right next to the Duck Dynasty hats. With something clever written on it like "I shot the mother effer" (get it? He was her mom's ex) and maybe even a logo from the firearm she used.

ps - You can't discount the possibility that the dude who broke in may have had a gun if gun laws were more lax. Just another way to spin it.

Thats truly amazing and a perfect example of why open carry nut cases might be hurting genuine anti-crime situations like this!

im stunned, good for her and her mother. I doubt that man will be messing with that house hold with that sort of reputation in the future.

ARGH!!!

Don't you know that this is one of the questions you never ask about bad situations?

Not only did that girl save her mother's and probably her own life, she saved her siblings as well, there were other children in the house when the attack took place. And her mother had only recently taken her to teach her how to shoot. This is a lesson many would do well to learn.

What a courageous and quick thinking girl...at 11 that's pretty amazing! Most would be whimpering under the covers. Hats off to you little lady!

I am glad that the daughter had the sense and calm it took to do what she did to save her mother's life. I'm also glad (some of you will hate it, but it's ok) that the daughter didn't wind up killing this guy in the process. I'm glad she was able to just wound him enough to cause him to flee. It would have been hard on her conscience to know that she had taken a man's life regardless of what he was doing, at her age. I'm happy she will not have to carry that around for the rest of her life.

That's a damn heavy load for most adults.

This is one reason why those of you who have guns in the house, should make sure that your older children know how to use them. Not just to protect themselves or even you, but to keep accidents from happening as well.

This is a feel good case that could have easily been just the opposite had not everything happened just as it did. I'm happy that everyone survived and can sleep somewhat peacefully this night.

It's a terrible thing when a little girl has defend herself in such a way, but I'm glad she did what she had to. Hopefully the POS will spend the rest of his days in prison. Knowing the "justice" system though, he'll probably get community service.

That man is lucky it was an 11yr old girl and not a cop, otherwise he would probably be dead right now.

Peace.

OK has always been weird. That's not always a bad thing.
We have a lot of good weirdness too. Some of the most interesting and creative people are from here.
We've just been in the news cycle lately. Pretty soon everyone will forget about us until OU makes a bowl game or the Thunder get in the play offs.

Pfft. Whatever. No we didn't. Violent crimes are prevented all the time by good people with guns. Like the Oklahoma beheading, for example. He was after more than just the one person who he successfully murdered, but he was stopped before he could go any further. You're welcome.

ps - You can't discount the possibility that the dude who broke in may have had a gun if gun laws were more lax. Just another way to spin it.

That's not another way to spin it. The girl would have still had a gun and would have still had the opportunity to prevent a violent crime. Gun laws are "lax". Guns are just expensive. That's probably why he didn't have a gun.

I was coming in here to say the same thing Sad that I am the first to star the post.

Totally agree this is what a firearm is good for.

Thanks Sremmons.

I was totally prepared for no stars and that's always quite alright by me. I'll say it regardless of how I feel it will play out and I knew it would not be popular when I said it.

I don't know why so many feel the need to want death just because they support the 2nd and the gun culture. I support both... avidly. But I think it's easy to underestimate what taking a human life can do to someone regardless of why they had to do it. Many have had to do it, and never sleep well again. So even if it's not popular, I am still glad this little girl will not have to carry that load with her.
