[trigger warning. If you're sensitive to certain topics. Stop now. Post involves child abuse and rape].

Story is that the show is getting a lot of heat because Stewie Griffin said "Hey Moe! Your sister is getting raped". Bart Simpson was trying to teach Stewie how to prank call.

Everyone is going insane and being butthurt about it. Family Guy and The Simpsons have done far more worse. If you look at both Homer and Peter. You know they are portrayed as abusive husbands and fathers. Homer physically abused Bart (choking him) even. It's all for entertainment and humor. I'm not saying these shows should be shut down or anything. I'm trying to say is that i don't understand some people logic to overreact to the rape joke but not child abuse when used for humor and entertainment.

Ya, what Stewie said wasn't even funny at all but no reason to get upset about it. People shouldn't get censored because some feelings might get hurt. Ya, people say mean things but it doesn't mean they aren't allowed to say something because someone feelings got hurt. The simpsons and family guy often show racism, drug use, alcohol use, child abuse and other things. Why would someone magically get upset when a rape joke was told but completely not care about the other serious situations like child abuse for example?

It's not like family guy never had rape in there show. I remember few episodes of the family guy having rape in it. One episode i remember is that brain the dog was kidnapped by Meg. He was bound to a chair and Meg was on top of him half naked wanting to do him against his consent. Another time i remember is Meg wanted to get raped by a robber but the robber didn't want to do it. Another one was Louis (peter wife) got fat and Peter was having sex with her unconsentually. She was telling him to stop but he won't.

I'm not saying rape isn't a serious crime. It very much is.

Why do you think people act like rape in t.v. cartoons is the most horrid thing ever or act rape jokes are the most worst thing you can ever do?

I have never thought of the Simpson's as containing adult humour such as jokes about rape, the handicapped, child abuse, drugs and so on.

The Simpson's is a show aimed at kids and young teens.

Family guy is aimed at adults really or older teens.

Lots of kids who would not normally watch family guy because it is not aimed at there age group might want to watch the episode because it features their favourite simpsons characters only to find adult themed jokes not normally featured in the show. like rape jokes.

That is why people are upset about it and I can understand why they are upset.

But i personally found it to be really quite funny.

It is by far not the most offensive thing Family guy have done but its probably one of the most offensive things the Simpson's have done.

We are living in an age of emotional and political correctness......

What might be said in jest in a cartoon or by a comedian will cause outrage by some, but Hollywood movies are allowed to make millions off of portraying vile human behavior with out a peep from those who show outrage over a lame attempt at humor. Aren't they both entertainment?

I don't condone rape by any means, but give any group a reason to get in an uproar in todays society and you can rest assured they will jump on it.

We have been programmed to react this way for a reason........

You mean besides the fact that both are cartoons? The same folks that don't visit the beautiful Yosemite Valley because they fear "Sam" nary to visit the desert out of fear of a roadrunner.

Now Seth doesn't even have to air the show and the audience will grow.. Are You old enough to remember the 'pet rock'?

namaste

P.S. In a thread about cartoon rape, perhaps a different descriptor than "butt hurt" would 'grease the skids' (pun intended)

Thing is The simpsons are very much for the older people and not for kids. Simpsons have crude humor like Family Guy. Child abuse, alcohol use, violence, and such is not for kids. Homer physically abuses Bart when he gets annoyed with him. This is not for kids eyes. I do agree with you that Family Guy is much more crude then Simpsons.

Also, the simpson movie drew Bart penis too.

How does "socially conditioned" sound?

Better?

Edit: Yea, that is Rob....

But just to bring to your attention something I find amusing....did you see how by me saying "programmed" it gave you your reaction? That is what I am trying point out.

Not quite the same as Stewie eating horse seamen, or Meg and Chris (brother and sister) making out, jokes about "black Jesus", or what about Peter saying "ground zero.... so this is where the first man got aids" and thats not even getting into Joe and his disability the wheel chair jokes about him quite offensive to some groups in society.

The simpsons not so much, i doubt that there are people who are getting more offended at bart drawing a penis than say stewie dressing up as a women and making jokes about how people have "touched him".

All I am saying is that for some people, a Family Guy Simpson's cross over episode should contain humour that is targeted at both age groups.

And i am sorry but the Simpson' while as i adult i do enjoy it, is most definitely for a younger audience.

Family guy is for adults.

Read the part 'i agree with you that family guy is more crude then simpsons'.

Doesn't matter who is more worse or have more crude content. Both are rated 14+ it's just my personal opinion that both should be adult and older teens area.

In a way it is, isn't it?

Google "Edward Bernays" and read up on him. We are manipulated by advertisements, movies, MSM on a daily basis. Some would say that IS a form of "government brain washing".

I guess to not sound as crazy, "social engineering" would be more acceptable?

I quit watching modern tv years ago. I over hear it though and it sounds like a torture chamber.

Corrupt guys acting tough in a bar.
Sexual assaults
Torture
Serial killers
Drug manufacturers are glorified (wow, look at their money)
How many cop/fbi/profiler shows do we need?

The Simpsons really isn't that bad compared to other shows. Family Guy I never found to be funny but that's just me.

I think it's more to do with how a individual is effected by something. Like violence in games. Some may become violent to bully and some are not. If the government truly brain washed people then there be no criminals, everyone would have the same morality and all that. I think it's more to do with social acceptance and the difference of people morality state.

Like, if 9 out of 10 people had sex. The one probably wants to have sex to fit in or to feel social accepted. Human rely on human communication and socialization. When a new brand comes out and everyone was buying it it probably made people feel the need to buy a new phone even tho the old one they have done the same. Ipod for example, tablets and such. Probably due to social acceptance. Majority of humans feel the need to be socially accepted because we rely on socialization.

That is definitely part of it! Wanting to be part of the "in crowd" and "peer pressure" is something that seems to only be applied to teenagers, but in reality it also transfers to us in adulthood. For most of us it never seems to go away?

As per your topic, I think our current "political atmosphere" has a whole lot to do with how people are reacting to the question in your OP.

Agree? Disagree?

Wow, people today would never be able to handle Fritz The Cat from 45 years ago. But people were freer back then.

We have devolved as a society.
