We wont decline from superpower status ever.
Some people wont like this but.... Immigration and Investment prevent that from happening. I'm not saying it might not be a mess here at times, i'm
not saying the players will look the same. I'm not even saying we will be called "The USA" but regardless we'll be "A" if not "the" center of
the world.
1: The trend would be to absorption into a larger body rather then dissolution into separate states. If the USA goes kaput the likely scenario is a
North American Union (not sure if an "empire" technically "ends" if it becomes part of a bigger empire) In all reality, with over 60% of the
population the USA doesn't do "bad" if it fails and is reestablished as part of a North American Union, it's not like Mexicans and Canadians are
much different, the patriotism's are almost amusing, for all intents and purposes nothing would change, it's not like anything we do to prevent
Mexicans North of the border matters at this point, Obama has seen to it the border didn't actually exist anyway to the South. Americans aren't
going to "flood" the North in search of snow, lol. There would be a lot of perks returned, border stops between places like TJ and Vancouver, New
York... Buffalo, Toronto.
There's no way America going down wouldn't take Mexico and Canada with us, the restructuring would take a lot of cooperation and effort, the ground
work for it is already there, things like interdependence for food and water trump all if things get "bad" it could take Two years or Thirty, but
this would come back together as an NAU almost as a certainty.
2: America derives a lot of power because we are a people of many nations, for a long time and certainly through "the American Century" the fact
that we are British and German and Irish, Italian, Dutch, Norwegian, French... has left family ties and good business relations with Europe, including
NATO, it makes us more powerful. It's not like this factor will go away. At the same time however, we are gaining Latin America and Asia over the
long haul in a similar relationship as we have with Europe. China is buying up the US while it can and there is no situation where both it and India
in the not too distant future. Sure China is now the worlds leading economy and they are buying "us" no one buys property to build a slum... and
truthfully, there is a lot of unused land here and the immigration is coming. America will be a pacific Rim Nation so will Canada and Mexico it's
people will reflect that. There's a whole new economy in it's infancy here.
3: Science and Technology make the economic concerns less troubling, we are way ahead of the curve, not in our public education, but in our research,
phd's, innovation. We have a 17 trillion dollar debt but we also are towing in an asteroid, on a not much larger scale that's worth 17 trillion
dollars by itself. We were oil dependent now we are a top exporter. We had no new Industries because of cheap over seas labor, Thousands of new
companies later, companies like Google and Microsoft we have new Industries. There will be many New Business arenas, some no one could even predict
just a few years earlier
4: Military, we could stop working on it for 30 years and when we looked so long as we maintained what we have we'd still be a top 5 and we'd never
do that. As super power status goes, being able to kill everyone ranks high. That factor isn't going anywhere
5: resources, food, water. We'll always be okay, referring back to no 1 "by itself" America and certainly mexico lacks, But combined Canada, Mexico
and America can easily feed and Water everyone regardless of population, when you factor in global warming and crops moving North maybe and the need
for Water as a continent when you factor in Canada all the rest of us do well, and that's where this is going one way or another, inter-cooperation
in this hemisphere.
So just to reiterate.
We are as a continent fine, we have food, water, no real access for land invasion. Despite the isolation we hve the worlds top military including
Thousands of ICBM's, the ability to seriously project force and 300 Billion Dollar Black budget keeping it all way ahead technologically, we will
never not be a Military superpower. We constantly invest in new technology which creates unexpected economic potentials and via immigration we
maintain family and business ties to any economic zones that flourish around the world.
North America will be up there, with China, East Asia, Europe, India as a giant Economic and Military entity... It doesn't change much, We were a
bipolar world during the cold war, a Uni Polar world for a generation and soon to be a multi polar super power world, but we are a super power in
almost any event.
