US military & partner nation forces have begun striking ISIL targets in Syria using mix of fighters, bombers and Tomahawk missiles.

Report: Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar and UAE participating in airstrikes against Islamic State in Syria, official tells @ABC

Damascus Says Washington Informed Syria's UN Envoy Before Striking Islamic State in Syria

It begins, and exactly what the US gov't wanted to do, bomb Syria.

Be gone ISIL, but I don't support military action in Syria. Wonder how Assad feels about this? I'm sure he'll shoot down one of our planes at some point and a new war will begin. Then again, Assad isn't stupid and clearly is avoiding a war with America as best as he can.

If they're hiding in Syria, then we must go to Syria to eradicate them.

Soooo, who are these "partner nations" and what are they doing?

Oh wait I know the answer…."We could tell you but then we would have to kill you."

That's exactly what they want. We, as in the west, should step aside and let the Arab nations handle this.

Of course, our arms, and most likely funds, found their way to ISIL in Syria so we are also the problem.

The war on terror hasn't been very effective so charging into Syria to thwart them isn't a great idea.

Our allies, except Israel (of course), and hopefully the Arab nations as well.

*Bump* not that this thread will need it, I am here to find out more after the special news break on one of the main networks here in the US.

I have always felt that "It" will begin when Syria is invaded and targeted.

God bless the innocent everywhere.

WWIII

I have 0 confidence in Arab nations doing anything. These tools have to be stopped and if it takes bombing the hell out of them where they're hiding, so be it.

I don't have much faith in them either, well except for Egypt who have been conducting air strikes against terrorists in Libya. Egypt is armed to the teeth thanks to the US and they're all we really need against ISIL. US to send 10 Apache helicopters to Egypt

Pieces are falling right into place....you heard it here first...US blames Syria for shooting down US plane, airstrikes widen, new regime in Syria within three months.

Assad is none too happy about US airstrikes in Syria. He fears a logical outcome, US will also target his forces along with ISIL.

Syrian opposition chief: U.S. assistance will be used against Assad forces, not just Islamic State fighters

NEW YORK — The president of the Syrian National Coalition — whose “moderate rebel forces” President Barack Obama and Congress have committed to help — told me bluntly this morning his fighters will use those stepped-up resources against President Bashar al-Assad’s government forces, not just the Islamic State extremists that the U.S. is targeting.

“We don’t always have freedom of choice or options.” Hadi al-Bahra said in a late morning interview during the United Nations General Assembly week. “You fight and defend yourself against whomever is waging an offensive against you. So we will be for sure fighting on the two fronts.”

So if they were hiding in Russia, does Obama have the testicular fortitude or authority to go after them there?

Remember a few weeks ago Obama made this threat:

US President Barack Obama has threatened to wipe out Syria’s air defense system and topple the Syrian government if President Bashar al-Assad ordered his forces to shoot American planes entering Syrian airspace.

He made the remarks during a meeting in the White House before his speech about Washington’s strategy about the ISIL terrorist group, The New York Times reported on Sunday.

Obama ordered the US military on Wednesday to expand its bombing campaign against ISIL terrorists and launch airstrikes in Syria.

Are you talking about the civilians ISIS is hiding behind?

Or the civilians that are knowingly 'hanging out' with ISIS, and know exactly what is coming their way?

Give me a break....

It is sad, but that's part of war and it ain't pretty.
