Your post is a good statement for the present situation of kurdistan, however you are missing some facts I would really like to add:
1. Kurdistan (the autonomous region in Iraq) is, ever since they are extracting oil, sending that oil to the mediterranean sea over Turkey, which is
pretty important since that strenghten the relations between the Kurdistan and Turkey greatly.
2. Kurdistan's economy is living through a boom ever since they began extracting the oil in 2010, making them completly independent of the iraqi
central goverement, which doesn't have anything anymore to say in Kurdistan.
3. The oil beeing extracted is beeing extracted by several different companies, some from the USA, some from Europe and some from Russia. This leads
to the conclusion that all these countries and regions have an interest in a strong and stable Kurdistan, which therefor explains the weapons
transfered to Kurdistan from Europe and why the USA wants to build a army base in Kurdistan - to defend their fields in the worst case.
4. The PKK has got nothing to do with the autonomous region. I know that you didn't say that but it's important to be mentioned since some might not
know that.
