This seem a bit mad why has it taken this long for him to show up.
It looks like to me that he's enjoying life over there.

So john is gonna educate us,this should be fun.

I don't know man..

I smell something fishy, it looks and sound a bit easy for a guy who has been a prisoner for the last 2yrs
This guy says his country has let him down which by right we have. but he looks to me like he is gonna enjoy this. Maybe we have lost the poor guy and he just given up on life.

How can you adequately judge the man's opinions and living conditions going off of a heavily scripted video, formed by ISIS' propaganda team?

I think you are falling for their trap. They want you to believe that he has it good. They want you to believe that he is 'enjoying' himself. That ISIS doesn't kill or harshly treat all of their prisoners. After all, this video exists solely to target the West in an attempt to provide 'the truth' about ISIS and the goings on.

I wouldn't trust any of it. And i wouldn't judge the man based on his performance. It is all heavily scripted.

I'm trying to find out about other non-UK/US hostages. Who has IS freed?

Well...

He's screwed.

I agree with others in that he is coerced in some way, and more episodes?

Seems they got a plan for him before they lop his head off... err slowly cut through it, like an amateur surgeon, is probably more acurate

To me, he looks like a malnourished and broken soul. The words were written for him. I think he is silently screaming inside.

Is there something wrong with his left shoulder, or is his right one swollen? Or is it just his posture?

I wonder in what way did other nations negotiate to get their people home? Not every nation would have prisoners to exchange so Im guessing maybe ransom?

Interesting when he says, "Maybe I'll live and maybe I will die" with heavy emphasis on the 'I will die' part.

His words and tone don't match his appearance at all. He looks weak and tired and I'm sure he's only trying to save himself at this point, so whatever they want him to say, I'm sure he will.

Eh... while I do think that the reason why these prisoners were left behind was so that they would turn into a good excuse to go to war, this guy is very obviously broken And reading a transcript. I mean, are we supposed to side with the Islamic State because they return some prisoners after a few negotiations? How noble of them!

I feel really sorry for him. He has every reason to feel bitter about his government... and I don't see what else he could do if they are making him say these things. Better to go with it than resist and be tortured.

This is all really depressing.

I see nothing 'good' about it nor is there anything to make me think otherwise, Neither would I think that he thinks that we are naive enough to be surprised at government shenanigans. He's a journalist, and he knows well that there is a long standing government stance on hostages, probably selective of course.
He could be talking about big business though,

I feel bad for him. I cant say what I would do in that situation. We have no idea what led him to this point. Of course he knew the risks of the territory, but you dont exactly plan on this happening, unless you are some kind of premeditated defector Someone should rescue him and then see what he says.

Maybe they chose him for a reason, out of their prisoners. According to his name, he "Cant lie".

Why would they want us to think he's having a good time.BS

If its true and he has been there for 2yrs. well 2yrs ago ISIS was not on anyones mind. And just maybe he is bitter and wants some revenge. Too early at the moment.

Just putting it out there....

I think you and smurfy are misunderstanding me.

Essentially, the man is being forced to say what he is by ISIS. He is a prisoner, and ISIS is using him for propaganda.

You said you think he is enjoying himself. I'm saying that the video is being used to show that he does have it good...in comparison to the other prisoners. He is being used by ISIS in an attempt to bring 'truth' to those who will listen to their #.

Because some of them are dedicated to their job. Some of them want to bring the truth to the public.

That said, you will find that Syria is deserted of Western journalists now. Major news organisations rely on Syrians to gather news as freelancers. It used to be okay for westerners to go around and report. Now, it is just too dangerous.

He's been captive for 2 years but knows that the organisation is now referred to as Islamic state by the western media ? It could be Stockholm syndrome or it could be he's helping there propoganda at his own free will? Something seems off about the whole thing. Surely if he knew he's fate then he would do something to stop it !
