The rush is to ease your terror.

I suppose. But you've had a lifetime to prepare to die, it's one of the few certainties in your life and if you're a believer (and your belief is accurate) it's not even the end, it's just a new phase of life. Why have terror over that, unless you're doubting your beliefs?

You are alone as well.

I'm sorry. This bit made me laugh. Should you be expecting to see other people floating around willy nilly as well? It would be rude to talk to God if you had another free faller to chat to on the way down.

And how would you hear God over all the screaming profanities

Haha, well I just have an instinctive feeling that another person being around could influence the situation.

The point being that there is no chance of anyone else being influenced.

In other words, God could remain hidden to all others.

(Some could argue he hides in plain sight as it is)

Well yes, this is mostly a question for agnostics like me.

I think there is probably a God...but I am not sure.

How do you know? So, every time a person "thinks" they're going to die, god will talk to them?

I've heard many accounts of people who have been near death and either have seen something like a God or Angels either speaking to them, calming them or just watching over them. It's not something that can be made up because I've tried to question it myself. I've learned that these people who share these experiences believe with everything in their being that what they saw was real. And you can tell just by watching them retell it.

Not a Christian, I follow a different path but thinking of it from that perspective... I don't see why God would. If you're guaranteed to die in a few short moments I'm pretty sure God is patient enough to wait and let you have that conversation at the pearly gates. It would be much less effort on his part.

No actually, if you were truly thinking in their perspective you would try a little harder.

It is not about God in that moment. Regardless of what people are saying, anyone who is falling from 40,000 feet above anything without knowing they have something strapped to them that will prevent them from splattering everywhere WILL INFACT believe they are dying. So, in that moment If they decide to come to terms with their belief and speak to Their God it is because they do INFACT believe that he will answer.

So, yes, in my opinion He would answer because he will see that what's in their heart is true and real. He won't ignore that. He knows that is when you need Him the most and that's when he will surely reveal himself to you, in your darkest times, when you feel like there is nothing left and have turned to Him for just a word. To ease your mind as you prepare for something that you've never experienced, something that terrifies everyone. We will never know what lies beyond this life, not until the ment where we go from this one to the next. So when it's time to make that jump, He would be there to talk to you Atleast, because if their God is who they believe he is, he wouldn't turn his back on you when your calling for him when you obviously need him the most.

But, I highly recommend NOT jumping from a plane to see if God will talk to you. He will know you have a hidden agenda and you will just die extremely pissed off and no one wants to die pissed off.

To everyone ignoring the question in general, which was "if you fell from a plane at 40,000 feet over a cement factory and asked God to speak to you, would he?": it does not matter whether you survive or not, whether you freeze to death first, or anything else other than the fact that you are falling 40,000 feet to sudden and sure death. You will believe you are going to die, there will be no question in YOUR mind because there will be no way of stopping it. So you will most likely be at peace with it, accepting it. And if you know enough about this God to ask him to talk to you while you plummet to your death then he most assuredly knows enough about you to answer your call.

You guys are just avoiding the question because when YOU are falling to your death from 40,000 feet you will be too worried about yourselves and too selfish to accept the fact that you are dead regardless. You would never try to talk to God, you will be too obsessed with finding a way to live when there will be none.

Why do you believe this. Possibly that is how you would look at it. Me, I would enjoy the trip down.

I dislike when people make such sweeping statements categorizing how I would act based on their own subjective assumptions. We are not all like you are.

We are all different. Celebrate those differences!

Never said I believed anything. My beliefs have nothing to do with anything. I was just answering the posters question. And the question included a God. So, when replying to this thread, I'm sure he required some sort of Godly answer.

Doesn't mean I believe in a god or that I necessarily believe he would answer me. But if the person falling to their death ASKED for a god to speak to them, when you wouldn't ask like you stated, then he would get an answer. Maybe not an answer involving actual words, because there are more ways to speak to someone than with just your words, but the person asking will be answered.

I am just answering in the same perspective in which the question was asked. Which was the point of the thread. All you would need to say is I wouldn't ask a god to speak to me. Bam. End of conversation. No point in listing all the possibilities of survival or different deaths when they have already accepted they are dead regardless. The god the that someone believes would answer them when they are at the end of the line would answer.

And looking back at your original reply you answered that God would not be bothered. Therefore you answered the question, so my post your referring to wasn't even intended for you. Why were you so bothered by it?? Also, out of curiosity and to hear your own perspective, why do you think he wouldn't be bothered?

Haha! ACTUALLY, I started that post with "to everyone ignoring the question in general,." It's called paragraphing. The entire post was intended for the ones ignoring the question. Which you had not. Please, if you have not read the entire post do so now. You will see that the you are not included whatsoever going by what you replied. You tried to be funny and then answered the question.
