Alice Springs| A team of archaeologists working for the Australian National University, who were proceeding to an excavation near the sandstone rock formation of Uluru, has unearthed the ruins of a large precolonial city dating back to more than 1500 years ago. The important number of tombs and artefacts already discovered on the site suggests that it could have been the capital of an ancient empire, completely unknown to historians until now...

SOURCE

Truly amazing, if this is true...it will change everything we think we know about ancient Australia. Im unable to confirm source, has anybody else read about this yet?

Mod Edit This has been moved to the HOAX Forum due to the source, which is World News Daily. All stories that link back to WND as being it's only source are considered to be false, fake and otherwise HOAXES perpetuated by bored people on the internet. This is in no way, a reflection of the author of this thread.

Your source is a specifically hoax website.

There's no place like that in Australia. It's a made-up story.

Looks like a hoax..

An article saying the “ruins of an ancient city” were found in the Australian Outback is fake.

It was posted on bogus news site World News Daily Report, which describes itself as satirical in nature.

a reply to: Kandinsky I've followed you closely over the last six years mate... if you can give it...well..., if you read your post, from an angle it seems like (pfft, Australia, nothing to see, move along) I call a spade a spade. Deal with it how you see fit, but do not knock the land where I stand!.
I also see that we joined only days apart,in 2008, and I see you have done quite well in reeling the good information needed to make this great site the greatness that it is, I I commend you. Though I have a few learning difficulties that i'm not willing to disclose. Anyways I love ATS, but it's your sarcasm that keeps me at bay. let me fly ,let me be, and if you open your closed mind, then one day you may see .x

There was no offence intended. No criticism of Australia.

I was just pointing out that the story is a hoax from a hoax website.

I consider myself one of the politest members on ATS and rarely go for sarcasm. The thing is we can't hear tone of voice on ATS and so are easily misunderstood. You're usually very polite also so maybe we crossed wires.

No hard feelings

a reply to: Kandinsky Thank you, but you see my point, I respect you, as to my (followed you for 6 years) , I respect your ideals, and some of your beliefs, you are one of the members I look forward to greeting each time I log on, which is 24/7 lol. Forgive me, as I am very patriotic towards my limping country ( due to leaders at present), Bottom line, I just wish we had something else to offer other than ####SNIPPED#### drawings of something that may or may not have happened. Thank you for you reply Kadz!

BTW, I don't feel I have the ability to differentiate sarcasm for normality anymore. You try typing with jaw movement.. it's not easy. they
only people I seem to please these days is my wife, but I think she puts it on sometimes,... you know, to make me feel good , or at least worthy.
If I we're a rich man, I would donate to ATS, as a window to life itself. But even before my accident, This place just does me true.

Well even without the Hoax, Aboriginals have been in Australia for around 40,000 years so maybe there is something out there somewhere and we just haven't found it.

it is kind of hard to believe there has been no civilization in Australia other than the nomadic aborigines.... who knows maybe it will be found one day...

so you think you could do better in red speedos than our dear leader ?..personally i think we could replace him with an emu and the country would do just fine

Anything is possible. I think it was only last year that geneticists found that 11% of Aboriginal DNA came from India about 4000 years ago with Aboriginal DNA returning to India. I bet that this is when the dingo arrived. I think there may have been a thread on it. It would appear that this discovery has been hushed up.

Like the graves of red haired 'giants' in New Zealand being destroyed to keep the Mouries happy.

But, but, Rex Gilroy said there's a pyramid in Gympsie?

Australian aboriginal culture is truly ancient. People in Europe and others go to university and study anthropology, they ponder at how our ancestors once lived. LOL! They write books, make documentaries and give lectures and piss in each others pockets.

Here, we have a whole country of ancient peoples who's lifestyle had gone unchanged for 40,000+ years and it's "boring" or has "no value". I think if people only understood that Aboriginal's were living fossils there would be more respect for their culture. Then there is 40,000 year old Mungo man who had modern european features, but I have a soft spot for cavemen and such.

In Victoria, there is stone arrangements that are proven to be a celestial calendar. There are stories of more standing stone arrangements in Maralinga, South Australia too. No ancient cities though lol.

Exactly. Have you seen the old photo of the coffins that were in that cave where they found the bodies? Very European but extremely old.
