Report: The 'Sovereign Citizen Movement' is The Greatest Threat To American Security

A report issued recently named Sovereign citizen as the number one threat with Islamic extremest 2nd and militia/patriot groups 3rd.

The report was based on opinions of law enforcement across the country.

Sovereign citizen, Islamist extremist and militia/patriot groups are perceived by law enforcement agencies to pose the greatest threats to their communities, according to a new START study. While sovereign citizens were the top concern of law enforcement, assessments about whether most groups were a serious terrorist threat actually declined for most groups (e.g., the KKK; Christian Identity; Neo-Nazis; Racist Skinheads; Environmental Extremists; Animal Rights Extremists) when compared to a previous study.

START researchers David Carter, Steven Chermak, Jeremy Carter and Jack Drew recently conducted in-depth surveys with more than 364 officers representing 175 state, local and tribal (SLT) law enforcement agencies to examine perceptions of: the threat of terrorism; the nature of information-sharing; and whether agencies are prepared to deal with terrorist attacks. Their results are published in “Understanding Law Enforcement Intelligence Processes,” available on START’s website.

The Sovereign Citizen movement was the most highly ranked threat, with 86 percent of respondents agreeing or strongly agreeing that it was a serious terrorist threat. This is a significant increase in ranking from an earlier survey implemented in 2006-2007, which showed Islamist extremists to be law enforcement’s top concern at the time. In that survey, approximately 67 percent agreed or strongly agreed that Islamist extremists were a serious terrorist threat

I'd rather stick my head in a burning furnace than listen to MSNBC. Other than that, if the government is threatened by sovereignty, then America is not the land of the free. If the government doesn't want power to be equally distributed to the people, then they are totalitarian. They should be scared.

And if the liberals have their way, then sovereignty will be lost. We will no longer be free. The human spirit will not be able to express itself from within. It will be controlled and directed from without by those who think individuality should mean everyone should be like them- as equals. As something other than what we are.

Well we need to keep our military at 2 war capacity, so better have 2 targets to aim it at.

Do you ever watch fox news?
I agree this ed guy is like the bill of MSNBC, but if you can't stand MSNBC then you need to understand that fox news is the other side of that coin. They both are on their far side their respected spectrum of the political scale.

Why would right wing media cover liberal propaganda and use it to scare people into thinking freedom is bad? We conservatives just don't do that. Its against our values. Power to the people and all that.

This MSNBC report is astonishing.

We should trust the Administration who controls the DHS 100%.

They tie up the court system with stacks of frivolous, nonsensical paperwork. People that actually need their day in court have to wait whilst the justice system sorts through all the garbage these people throw at them.

Usually they're desperate people, being sold a scam "get out of taxes/jail" scheme. If whatever they are trying actually worked, the richest people and corporations in the USA would be using their secret tricks to get out of paying taxes.

A lot of them owe the IRS a lot of money, have back child support, or are locked in jail. If they don't want to pay taxes -- fine, move to another country. Roads don't pave themselves for free, and firefighters and EMT's don't work for free either.

It makes perfect sense. Liberals vote for more government and then when they're getting pepper sprayed in the face for breaking "curfew" laws and other liberal nonsense over regulation, they get mad and blame republicans. smh. There's no such thing as liberal logic.

I was going to say, it must have something to do with Ferguson, and probably that supposed ISIS threat at the Mexican border. Also, there's a massive training operation in California called '2014 Urban Shield' starting soon. Things are definitely escalating in their eyes.
