Now just pull up a cyber-chair...
...and sit a spell and we'll go through a few things that could be helpful to know.

First of all, as ATS is a big community and there are lots of forums, you might like to check out the Forums page and see what catches your eye. It will also give you some idea on where to put a new thread if you want to start one after you have your first 20 posts. (Oh, and regarding our 20-post rule, perhaps I should just add that besides giving new members a chance to settle in, it also helps in picking up the obvious spammers before they can wreak too much havoc.)

Because there are so many threads already, it's not a bad idea to do a search here before you eventually post yours. Okay, you won't always find an exact match, but it's helpful to check. You can also use it if you just want to find threads on a certain topic.

If you need help with anything, feel free to send a message to any of the staff. Just mouse over the “member” tag under any staff member's avatar, then click “send message”.

Also, if you see a post that you think is a problem under the T&Cs, then mouse over the poster's "member" tag like before, but this time click “ALERT!” and perhaps write a few words about why you've alerted it. The alert goes straight to staff (with a link to the post) and we'll look into it as soon as we can.

By the way, if you get “flags” on your thread, this is actually a positive thing! So don't worry if your thread gets “flagged”. The more flags, the better!

Didn't you say you're from India?
Did you not mention that or am I mistaken?

I was born in China and even after being in America 12 Years, I still have problems thinking and writing in English.
I often think in Mandarin Chinese and try to but those thoughts into English, That does not work.

With you saying your from or India, I assumed there would have been a little language problem.
But I guess I was wrong and Upset you, by complimenting your thread and giving you some sources.

Welcome. I am replying to both welcome you, and give you another to reply to in your endeavor to reach twenty posts that you might share your experience with us. Hope you find much here to entertain and inform you….but remember, it's primarily a site for entertainment, and is listed, even, as "social media." That should tell you a lot right there.

Also, as for the Wiki, of course it's spam. If only in that there must be UFOs in India, as unidentified things seen flying are fairly usual everywhere. All a UFO is, after all, is something flying through the air that you can't figure out what it is…..

This should explain it all;

Stars Flags etc

Basically from the top left;

Posts: Number of posts you have,
Flags: Creating threads gives you flags for your content.
Stars: Each post can be given a star by each member. As a general rule, the higher number of stars the higher number of people think you have written something worthwhile.
The Cup: The WATS (Way above top secret) score. This determines the top 50-100 posters by their score
The lightning bolt: Is karma. Basically all your stats rolled into one including applause from the staff.
