Joan Rivers Dead At Age 81

Joan Rivers daughter Melissa has just made an announcement that her mother passed away sometime after 1pm this afternoon. I'll update with a source in a few minutes.

She was 81.

Joan's daughter Melissa Rivers took her mom off life support so she could pass comfortably in a private room.

I wonder what the surgery she was getting on her throat was for?

What a coincidence. Didn't she just recently accuse Michelle Obama of being a transsexual?

RIP. Although not everyone's favourite - my thoughts go out to her family.

For those who wished her death in a recent post about her comments on Palestine/Israel.... I know she said some stupid stuff but that was extreme. I hope you feel a bit of sympathy - it's what makes us human, right?

Wow, I honestly thought she would stick around at least 10 more years making fun of people's appearances.

She wasn't my cup of tea either.

The woman opened doors for women comics. Doors that are still open today.

It's sad to see her go. But, with over 725 surgical procedures.

I am truly amazed she lived this long...RIP

I thought she was sometimes funny and sometimes not very funny at all. She rubbed a lot of people the wrong way and in particular, some of her recent comments left a very bad taste in many peoples' mouths — but love her or hate her — she made her mark.

I just thought I might add. She was not my cup of tea either, but my condolences to her family and may she rest in peace as well.
Looks like Johnny Carson has some company again.

Evil is a stretch. Granted, not around here, assumptions are often thrown out without thought. The woman was not evil, just.... controversial. It was more than likely her entire career was 98% a publicity stunt

Could not stand the woman, but if i manage to become as old and rude as she did, i'll be happy with how i did.

And to those celebrating the death of an old woman due to her words, get a freaking grip and show more class than she did. I didn't even celebrate when Thatch died and i always thought i would.

It's easy, she's someone's mother and grandma and her people are grieving for her and i feel it's right to respect that other wise we're all just Westboro Wankers. Was true for Maggie too believe it or not. Part of my opposition to hatred and warmongering means trying to show restraint in my own baser emotions and not giving into the dark side, young padawotsit.

I didn't think she was funny the least bit. And I was also appalled by what she said about the Palestinian children a couple weeks ago. So I have nothing nice to say, so I will stop right here.
