For me it's better than Luther. I think that may also be due to it being filmed very near to where I live. It's a very good storyline and a true reflection of life in Northern England.

Watch it, if you like British drama you'll enjoy Happy Valley.

I just finished watching three seasons of"The Land Girls" from the UK.
I recently watched all available seasons of "Here Comes the Midwife " also from the UK. We used to watch "Fawlty Towers" back in the day with the brilliant John Cleese of Monty Python fame. The BBC dose an excellent job providing quality entertainment. They are equal to the task of Hollywood's finest. You guys should know that America appreciates it.

I don't have an opportunity to view productions from too many other countries. Some from Italy and a sprinkling from Germany but these are subtitled and I don't enjoy the experience as much.

I get tired of precocious children with unrealistic dialogs and vocabularies on American sitcoms. And I'm not a homophobe but do we necessarily need to see it on every show on tv?

No idea about any Aussie shows I'm afraid, I'm in the UK.

I can also recommend a six part series called 'Happy Valley' starring Sarah Lancashire, its a British Police drama, also worth a watch.

This just showed up on Netflix. I have only watched a couple of episodes so far. So little time unfortunatly.

Great memories of my youth watching Monkey! That and The Water Margin, though Monkey Magic wins hands down!

I just love historical dramas. I also love period pieces even if they are not historically accurate. Often just for the costumes and set designs. reply to: AllSourceIntel

Yeah, me too. Two things usually happen to shows I like. They sell out and go all "poppy mainstream" or they get cancelled. All the best sci-fi shows get cancelled!!! Very few go a long time, X-files is perhaps the best example of this.

A good U.S. sci-fi show I really liked was Dollhouse, it only went 2 seasons but had a ton of potential and was really interesting...you have to look in to it.

I think x files just ran its self out. Without the strained sexual tension between Moulder and Skully the show went flat.

Fully agree...on all counts.
I'm a big sci-fi fan.
Did you like Warehouse 13? I find Most SyFy productions cheesy but I liked that one.

What are peoples opinions on The 4400? It looks interesting and I can pick the first series up from Amazon for a couple of quid.

It's on Netflix if you have access. It's ok for the first two seasons then it kind of gets boring. They really should have tied it up in two seasons. a reply to: yorkshireman

I haven't watched too much of it, but what I have seen I think it is ok, just haven't got into it yet.

Thanks for that, only problem being that I only have a laptop with very tinny sound so I don't really enjoy watching films/programmes on it. Thanks anyway, the link was appreciated.

The problem I have with Lost Girl is the number of times Bo can fall into and out of "true" love. Her being a succubus gives plenty of excuse to have plenty of bedmates, but seriously, she has a new "true" love every season. It's getting pretty old with that. Just call it what it is - true lust - and move on with the series until she finally figures out what love really is and I'd be a lot happier with it.

+1 million it's really ridiculous that in American TV shows every other person seems to be gay.

My GF at the time who was not a sci-fi / fantasy person really enjoyed the show and was mad it was cancelled.
