Many times older defense tech is put on platforms because it's cheaper. It's a Red Herring.

Correct, and Russia isn't going to give the separatists the good stuff as we see what they do with military equipment that they aren't trained to operate. Think MH17 and a certain BUK missile system.
You still pointing the finger at Russia and the MH17? Wow,that's amazing
I'm sure the west has goaded Russia with Georgia and Ukraine to force Russia in showing these new equipment but Russia isn't silly and won't bite

Yes, they could. It's not even debatable. The US military would obliterate Russia. Not to say there would not be losses, there would be. The end result would be complete devastation for Russia, very acceptable US losses. It will be 20-30 years minimum before the US has any fear of losing a war.

It doesn't matter if they want to or not. They have no naval capabilities that would allow for a ground invasion of the US. The US would not have to complete a ground invasion of Russia, we would have losses, but we would defeat their defenses and then we would be free to bomb them hard. Not to mention it's very likely they can not detect the old B-2 bomber .. let alone the brand new dark-world bombers we are flying that we let them catch a little glimpse of earlier this year as a warning to remember who they are messing with.
Even as far as numbers go they barely outdo the US, that is not including NATO troops.
