It's mostly horse manure. The sun is doing things that we've never seen. It fluctuates and affects Earth in many different ways. I'm all for factories and whatnot being cleaner and everybody taking care of the environment, but this global warming money scheme is idiotic. Earth is a tough, old broad and she can handle what we give her. But again, the cleaner the better. We have to live here.

I've been saying for a while that it is already too late, it is in a perpetual cycle. We won't stop poluting the earth, so what are the options. The governments want a tax....they need a wage increase.
They will also need extra cash to pay for disasters that are going to be much more frequent. That will be where a majority of this money goes.

It isn't just the CO2 emissions that we need to worry about, we need to put limits on the bad chemistry of all kinds we are producing. The environmentalists were right all along.

That's itself horse manure. The Sun has been measured for decades.

IT IS NOT THE SUN.

As do other things, like the atmosphere.

Why is this one idiotic and acid rain is right?

Earth is a tough, old broad and she can handle what we give her.

True. Civilization to support 9 billion people in safety and security is very fragile.

I remember global cooling.. and then it was global warming... both said we must act now or we will all be dead in 20-30 years..

Now like I said earlier.. I believe it is happening, but I also believe it is a natural cycle of the planet, with some influence from us

Why don't you believe the scientists who have worked on this problem specifically and quantitatively for 50 years?

... I don't see how the majority of the plans I have read could stop and or reverse things without making it exponentially worse for the majority of the populace.

Why do you know better than the people who study the problem in detail?

The key word there is expert.

Yup take the word of foxnews pundits, AM radio pundits and Donald Trump, over those silly scientists any day.

I have trouble swallowing that we are 99% responsible for it, not that its happening, and 50 years ago some of those same scientist were probably screaming global cooling..

archive.wired.com...

Many climate specialists see so-called geoengineering techniques as a way to bring down global temperatures if other attempts to combat global warming fail. One approach is to inject sulfur dioxide into the stratosphere, where it reacts to form particles that block sunlight.

I don't claim to know better than the scientist, but it scares me when somebody claims to know every possible variable without fail... especially when a mistake could finish Humanity.

Seems like we would be better served to prepare for change rather than try to force changes that could have catastrophic results if the govt's responsible make a mistake.

If it is human caused, shouldn't we start holding the ones who suppressed cleaner renewable energy technologies in favor of polluting the planet for personal gain accountable?

Mabe a vote here or there matters, but we elect politicians to protect the planet we live on, but they would rather take bribes or promises of high paying jobs and look the other way.

So who's fault is global warming? And why should I have to pay more to the energy companies to fix it? Let's see the shareholders give back some of the profits that they sat around collecting, while knowingly withholding technologies that could have prevented this.

We made tobacco pay for its lies. Shouldn't we make the energy companies pay for theirs?

My solution. Pay all government employees min wage and monitor their finances, like they already do ours. Ensuring that no one can profit from looking the other way, and our politicians don't loose touch with the minimum standard of living that is being provided by min wage.

I'm sure we would see a whole new type of leader emerge if we only paid our leaders min wage. No longer would the greedy seek public office.

No longer would money be more important than the environment and humanity.

But there is a false presumption at the end - If no, then you must be in favor of *duh, duh, DUHNNNN!* dirty pollution! How could you?! But if you admit that there are either cyclical -or- man-made causes to the changes, then you must be an enlightened person ready to hold out hope for the windmill and solar revolution.

Apparently, there is no middle course or even a responsible course.

You base this off the assumption that the people in power will only pay themselves minimum wage. Heck, they are still voting themselves pay raises pretty much every year while we are lucky to get one annually in the private sector.

All it takes is one election cycle in the US. Maybe other countries have no way out but we most certainly do. When will enough people wake up to make this happen. Soon I hope.

99%, no, a large amount yes, and will it get greater, yes, much more, and that's the problem.

No, there was no previous SCIENTIFIC consensus on imminent large scale global cooling. It's simply a lie invented by the
propagandists for the false side.

Yeah, like reducing emission of greenhouse gases as soon as possible.

Who cares what the UN says or thinks. About anything. They are like that hippie, burn-out friend who is always trying to bum cigarettes off people or borrow cash or their car. But instead of cigs, cash and cars, the UN is "borrowing" all nations troops, resources, military hardware and wealth and telling you that they will use it for a better purpose than we ever could. When will people realize that unity is NOT the business of the UN, but rather consolidation of and complete authoritarian control over all people and resources. The future, for them, is "us" at the bottom and "them" at the top.

Well I can see minimum wage raise on the way if that's the plan!

Which could be good on the long term...buuut...

I miiiiight have a better idea...
They all get minimum wages, but on top of it, the people get to vote who gets the bonuses!

You mistake me, I am for greener energy, as well as for increasing research to improve and lessen the impact of coal, because like it or not coal isn't going away any time soon.

Trick is how do you change things and not cause large scale death of the young and elderly through hypothermia, or Heat stroke when they cant afford AC or heat..

A balance between environmentalism and Humanism has to occur, that's why I am more inclined to put some research towards adjusting to survive the coming changes.

Holy crap! After reading through this thread, I just can't believe how many people are blind. You don't need UN reports or climate scientists to tell you something's wrong. Pull your heads out and just pay attention.

Simple math:
Since 2007, the atmospheric mass of CO2 has increased by a bit under 19 gigatonnes annually.
Since 2007, humans have been emitting at least 29 gigatonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere annually.

We know the oceans are growing more acidic, so that seems to be where some of ours is going.
We know that CO2 restricts heat from escaping the Earth.

So... yeah.

Latest report from climate depot states that the Antarctic sea is at its coldest since record keeping began, and Antarctic sea ice is at its largest extent also since record keeping began, that's from an American satellite, so the globe is warming?
The UN has already forgotten the record freeze at the beginning of this year?
AS CO2 is less than half of one percent of the total atmosphere, just how does human CO2 make any difference? ( A question I never get an answer to).

IT IS NOT THE SUN.

So the Suns fluctuating temperature has nothing to do with the temp's on Earth? Decades is not a long study at all. In fact, it isn't even safe to assume that we know the Sun at all. As I said, the Sun is doing things never-before-seen.

As do other things, like the atmosphere

I could say the ocean and rivers, too! Those are Earth-bound. While they do have influence on temperatures, it would be uncommon for such a drastic change unless an outside influence affects all these things(Sun). Or local would be a volcano. Nothing else, IMO, could make such drastic changes.

Why is this one idiotic and acid rain is right?

Because global warming is a money scheme. Acid rain is real. Is it as bad as reported? Probably not, but it's bad enough to warrant factories to be cleaner and more conscience of Earth. Most of these factory owners live elsewhere, so it's not in their backyard, so they simply could care less.

True. Civilization to support 9 billion people in safety and security is very fragile.

The world could handle another 7 billion with no problem. persquaremile.com...

The key word there is expert.

The only problem with this is who gets to call someone an expert? If the same people that say man made climate change is real also get to tell us who the experts are, are the experts simply the most brainwashed.

We have absolutely no way of knowing exactly what effect CO2 is having. We have models, and so far they are only theory. Should we ignore the theorys? No. We should work to reduce our harmful emissions, um duh.

But to have everyone in a panic based on a currently unprovable theory is not good science, only good brain washing.

The TPTB, are paranoid because they no they created this problem. And I hope all of those who are responsible for this mess, government and greedy business, are scared.

I hope they actually believe the wrath of God is coming to scorch the world, since it is their fault.

I have more faith in God than man, so me personally I'm not concerned.
