Douglas McArthur McCain was already on a watch list before he went to Syria.

It's briefly mentioned at the end of this video. Douglas was only ever arrested for marijuana possession and driving with suspended license. Why was he already on a watch list? How did they know to track this one dude? If he was on the list, why was he allowed to fly? Thought the whole point of "the list" was to stop this sort of thing before it happened.

How would he end up on a watch list though? He was born Christian, and only converted to islam 3 years ago. Does the government track new converts in the US?? That's kinda creepy because that would be the only way he could be flagged except for maybe his small police record which is even scarier if 2 arrests gets you added to the "LIST".

No one is born Christian, you are simply born into a Christian family. As he was raised Christian, obviously he was not a believer in Christianity.

I don't know how one gets flagged, but if he were making phone calls to Syria to someone else on the watch list then that is probably how he was on the list.

He was probably making a lot of emails and calls to known members of ISIS and that's how he was on it. You really have to watch who you call and watch you say in your calls.

I think the watch list is to keep people from entering the country not to stop them from leaving. if some fool wants to leave the comfort and safety of the U.S. to go to some desert and get himself killed I don`t think DHS is going to try to stop him.

This is big news here in Minnesota, we have this guy plus tons of Somalian's going back to Somalia to join that movement too.

Anyone going to Turkey these days should be flagged automatically.

Probably because he associated with radical Muslims in the US that were being watched. As soon as he was seen with them, he was watched.
