If you self-identify as an Atheist or Agnostic, would you kindly, please share what "political affiliation" you hold, if any?

In Canada we have are blessed with the choice of hating 3 major parties; Conservative Party (like US Republicans but with a bit of gentlemanly charm and integrity), the Liberal Party (like US Democrats) and the New Democrat Party (NDP who are really right wing communists in sheeps clothing) and two minor party; the Bloc Québécois (lunatics in Quebec who want to secede from Canada but never will because of all the money that the Federal governments pump into the province) and the Green Party (like GreenPeace wingnuts but without the desire to do anything, who make grandiose policy statements, because they'll never, ever form any government, provincial or federal).

So, I'm an agnostic and blow with the wind between the Conservatives and the Liberals..... Depends on the issue as all parties offer up good and bad policies / ideas (except for the NDP who are out of touch with reality as are the Bloc Québécois)....

I'm atheist, and usually vote republican because I think progressive liberals will be worse for the economy.
Pro gay marriage, cuz gays should be able to suffer like the rest of us.
Hate all this diversity crap, cuz telling minorities they can't compete without whiteys help is insulting.
Want to legalize drugs, cuz the war on drugs is not working and way to expensive.
Love christmas, cuz everybody is in a good mood. (Mostly)

My father is an athiest and my grandfather was for most of his life until near the end of it, and they both were democratic socialists, not anything like Obama, more Norway style, and real equality, dental care for all. And its because they have ethics and idealism and are very intelligent men. Near geniuses. And have a conscience. Grandpa was Norwegian.

I forgo monotheistic messianic religions as a rule, but I did join the Republican party last go around to support Ron Paul.

Hmm! So did I!! (Switched from Independent to Republican just so I could vote in the 'primaries' - which turned out to be a 'caucus' instead of a 'vote' - then I switched back to Independent.)

For whatever good it did.

An Anarcho-Syndalicalist Commune; Autonomous Collective...

One of my favorite ideas. (And movie bytes)

Yeah, what Shredder said.

Being a union sheetmetal worker I am suppoed to vete "democrat", but they are running this country into the ground, right after a republican did.

They are all in tge same in my opinion. Come time to vote, I will probably lose sleep over my decision.

Thanks for your response.

I've visited Norway - had friends there that I met on the internet nearly 20 years ago.
Wonderful people, beautiful place.
Thanks....

My Dad was part Finn.

Are you talking about yourself, here, about those things? Or Progressive Liberals who will be "worse for the economy"?

Sorry, just not clear on your intention.

I voted green party last 2 elections, no major party in Canada really reflects my political view.

What does it take to become a Canadian citizen? I am American and I live in N.Y. I was wondering if they have work visas or if I came to visit would I be able to do something to stay? Thanks

Yes, I did. Thanks for clarifying. The way you typed it didn't say "I" or "they". Just wanted to be sure what you meant.

I registered as Republican, because I was raised as a Rush Limbauh Republican. By the time I was old enough to vote, it was McCain vs Obama, and I opted out of the two-party delusion.

My new policy is not to vote for anyone who is willing to export my tax dollars, whether its going to Israel or Oompa Loompa Land. That pretty much rules out all Republicans and Democrats alike.

When we dish out foreign aid, it falls into the hands of terrorist organizations (co-opted by the CIA), thereby guaranteeing the continuous existence of a new "boogey man" to fight off.

Skeptical, non religious, non atheist, leading towards Gnostic Christianity.

My signature is my political beliefs. I follow classical liberalism, not the wolves in sheep's clothing called "liberalism" today.

Good premise for a thread Buzzy.

When I was younger I would always vote third party but then one election was real close which because of all the third party votes for Nader Bush Junior won which effected my friends and I directly because of an unneeded war in Iraq. Now I can't say for certain that Al Gore wouldn't have taken us to war there but odds are he wouldn't have. At that point I realized votes do count. I used to vote for third party fully aware that party wouldn't win but I looked at it as the only way I could give the middle finger to the parties to where "they" cared. They don't give a flip if you don't vote in fact many of them prefer that you didn't.

So now I vote for the party that has a chance to win and are the least likely to go to war over daddy issues or something similar.

As far as the party I am generally registered as it would be independent though there should be one labeled as "perpetually undecided" however because independents here cant vote in primaries at each election I change my affiliation while I am there to whichever party there is an election for so I can vote. It is my right to do so and it is my right to change my affiliation at any time afterwords. I was once given $h!# for doing so at a primary election however I then schooled them on rights. Then proceeded to cast my vote.

As far as my political views they are mixed some are more conservative and some are progressive but there isn't any party that has values or beliefs close enough to my own for me to align myself with on any permanent basis.
