Basically the individual acted.

the officers reacted.

It is the individuals responsibility.

Ya he put him self in a bad situation, so of course he deserved to die.
I agree walking up to cops with a knife is a bone head move and this the result that could happen.
Doesn't make it right tho.
I bet if both officers shot their tazer at this guy then he would be alive and in jail.

Hard to do when they already have their guns drawn. Even harder to do when someone is coming towards them, threatening them with a knife.

Some changes need to be made. No patrol officers should patrol alone. Cops should patrol in teams of two. Ideally a veteran officer paired with a junior officer. One of them should be armed with a taser in addition to service weapon.
When someone without a GUN is approaching, coming at them, trying to get weapon, too big and strong, etc., the taser can be deployed while other officer trains gun on subject for backup.
All uniformed cops should be required to wear cameras on their person to protect themselves as well as the public.
I believe most cops to be decent human beings. Most of the ones I know are. I do know one or two that are not. I believe the real reason cops get so much distrust from the public at large is the good ones NEVER do anything about the bad ones.
The "lets do it to them before they do it to us" attitude needs to go away.

Even if its justified this will fan the flames in Ferguson .

Albuquerque had protesters over a killing then they had a string of officer killings in a row each killing added to the anger of the crowd . Even the justified ones were fuel for the fire.

You see the Mike Brown killing leans to being justified . That hasn't stopped the protests . The residents feel to quick with the gun, lack of respect of the body 4hr on the street , dispatch learned of the shooting from sources other than the officer.

Right or wrong gas was thrown on the fire. I hope I am wrong.

I am saying they need to pull the tazer out first.
Common sense would say that two men more weapons then the 1 man with a knife could deal with him with out killing him.
But of course he had a knife so he needed to die.

Shooting to disable is for the movies. In real life, you either shoot to kill or you don't shoot. There is only one reason to ever pull a gun on someone, to shoot and kill them.

Actually... thats not always needed or implied. the Gun is to control the situation and to prevent deadly force from being used when used by a cop. puling the triggers a last resort. usually th e threat of getting killed will stop most attackers from attacking.

He could have ran if they only pulled their Tasers. They were trying to detain him, why not just drop the knife and comply? Unless you plan to harm someone, that is what you do right?

Sure they could have done it your way, but your way could have cost an innocent bystander to be taken hostage, harmed, or even killed.

You see, When dealing with a maniac criminal, the safety of the public and officers comes before the life of some dirtbag who threatens people with a knife.

On CNN just now...apparently it doesnt matter that the suspect had a knife. What does matter is that a WHITE COP SHOT ANOTHER BLACK MAN.

Thankfully this thread is still new, but I haven't seen anyone state the obvious.

The guy got what he wanted, Suicide by cop, since he apparently could not do himself in.

Why? I am asking why they didn't tazer him when he was 4 feet away for the cops, not an innocent civilian.

This man had an opportunity to hurt an innocent civilian when the store owner confronted him and he did not.
He wanted the cops to kill him and he got his wish.

I agree with Beezer on this. If someone decides to arm themselves and commit a crime, all bets are off. They chose to put themselves in a dangerous situation that has the risk of them losing their life. If they confront, aggravate or try to intimidate a clerk, police officer or a just a person on the street, that individual who is being threatened has the right to protect themselves. Nobody knows how they would react under such life threatening circumstances.

If you don't want to take a chance on losing your life, don't commit a crime. If you do commit a crime and get caught in the act, drop your weapon, don't argue or fight the arrest. It's that simple.
