Solar Roadways

There is a law in economics that if you produce the means of production into a state of over-abundance you will drive down prices and lead the world towards a condition of post-scarcity. The best method to begin this process, leading us towards a gift economy is the overproduction of energy, making it cheap and affordable and available to every person on this planet. The best long term method for that I can think of is broad spectrum solar power orbiting the sun at a closer rotation than earth, beaming its power back to us, but until we achieve that goal, solar roadways are a good interim project.

Collecting power from space and beaming it to Earth isn't a bad idea, that's something we'll probably do in the distant future, but there are more economical Earthbound solar projects we will do first.
